How on purpose do you think this episode was given one of the big news things going on? With the “new” technology they were able to keep Mr Pryor’s brother alive on a vent. Mr Pryor decided that perhaps letting God decide things might be better. So at the end the brother is taken off the vent and allowed to pass, with dignity and honour and without long and drawn out things going on for the family. They’ll be able to get closure and move on with their lives.
So it makes you think, what is better? Letting God’s will be done and letting someone go ahead and pass into the next life? Or trying to hold on to something that may never return and dragging out a person’s life in a way they cannot enjoy, costs your family a lot of money, and does not let you close a door in your life and marrs your memory of the person?
How do you know when it has been long enough to go ahead and make that move? Do you decide right away? Or do you let it drag out for 15 long years?
It’s one thing when there is still hope. But it’s another thing when it has gone on for so long that you now there can never be any hope. I sure hope certain elements were watching this, perhaps it might give them something to think about. Perhaps it is time to let go and let God. Let everyone find some closure. Including the media and those of us who are just tired of the whole thing.
I guess it is just a testament to why you need to make your wishes known to your family. And that truly nothing can be accomplished in this country anymore if there are no legal documents. What a shame. What a shame you must write a legal document for just about every second of your life. What a shame that families can be torn apart over such things. I’ve seen families torn up when they should be drawn together. Too bad.
