My goal in reading for 2008 is multifold. First I want to start my bookgroup back up again so I can continue to read interesting books I might not otherwise find and read. Second, I want to read 40 books this year, minimum. Last year I read 36. Surely I can do 40. Here's where it gets interesting though. Secretly I'd like to do 60, because I have roughly 120 books on my To Be Read Shelf, and that would half the number. Ideally, I'd like to read all 120 so that I can clear them out! Plus, I have a feeling my mother will be adding to the pile so I need to read buckets of books to make room for the buckets she'll give me! *GRINS*
Treasure Island is my classic for January. The kids and I reading 2 chapters a day on the inernet. Woot! I challenge all of you to read with us! We only began today, so for Tuesday, you need only read four chapters to catch up!
I am also reading several other books personally. Here you go:

I need to add “Dead and Dateless” to my reading list. Right now I’m reading a classic (of which I’m aiming to read at least 5 this year) G. K. Chesterton novel, “The Man Who Was Thursday.” Pretty good so far!
If you wanted to swap out Dead and Dateless for a book of mine after you’re done reading it, lemme know. š

I’d swap if I could
But it’s actually my mother’s. Sorry! But let me know about your book! I’m going to attempt to read several classics. Speaking of which, I need to go read through chapter 4 of Treasure Island!
Dead and Dateless has been great! I’m almost done with it and loving it! I hope I have the third one!!

Your mad reading skillz kill me. Really. š
If I read half as many books in one year, nay, one quarter of the books that you read I’d be happy.
I’ll read TI. See if I can keep up. ha

You can totally keep up!
http://www.mainlesson.com You can read for free there. You can get a list of the chapters. I read two a day. So by the end of Tuesday, you needed to be on Chapter 4. OK, I didn’t have time to finish so I’m only halfway through Chapter 4. Each chapter is “one” webpage. HEHE Just go for it! By Wed you need to be through chapter 6. If you wanted to you could either hammer it out or read three chapters a day till you catch up. š
Anyway, go for it girl! Go for it!
As fo rmy mad reading skillz, they used to be higher but then I had kids and now I homeschool them… sooooo….

Thanks for link – although I hate reading online, hard on the ol’ eyes. I will try to get a hard copy.
I used to read way more, too.

Well, then buy yourself a hard copy š I have to admit, I like the portability and having a hard copy. But that gets pricey after a while so I do what I can to save some money. Though that does have a print feature if you want to print out pages… HAHAHAHA But maybe it will get you by till you can get a dead tree form of the book.
Good luck! I’m behind, haven’t read today at all. Sooooo!!!
I remember when I’d read 120 or more books a year. Now I’m not even reading 40. LOL

I won’t buy one, I’ll borrow from the library.
Yeah, I know… I surprise myself when I think of what I read as a kid or teen. Books that I’ve probably forgotten. lol

I just read the first 5 chpt’s of TI at mainlesson. It wasn’t so bad reading online. It’s a great site, so many titles.

HEHE See, it’s actually easy.. I love that site. My kids use it all the time for school. š We are a heavy classical literature family here. HEHEHE
Goodreads is a place whre you can rate books you’ve read. See what your friends are reading. You can’t read books there, but you can keep track of what you do read. You can have various shelves like for books you are reading for a book club or this year or by genre, whatever. š It’s fun!
I’m ladyozma there. Go check it out

If I click on groups, for instance I saw a Harry Potter group, a sign-in prompt pops up. Same with individucal reviews.

No. They want you to only use “real names”. So they deny names that don’t seem real. Like Lady Ozma. Says that Lady Ozma is not a real name so they won’t let me use it. Booohisss!

Oh right. I’ve put off getting a FB account. I suppose it’s good for networking and contacting school chums. Dave’s sister is always going on about it – all her old friends she’s been able to hook up with again. Not sure I want to, yet. lol
