I picked this novella up in e-book form for free from Amazon. I read it in an evening, but could not put down my tablet to save my life!
The concept is one we know, yet oh so different. While it hearkens to not only Cinderella but also Beauty and the Beast, it is only a passing nod.
What I liked was the little island country the author created. It’s in our world and yet so not our world. An island where all those of paranormal nature may call home, it’s a monarchy that is quite interesting to say the least. You meet werewolves and vampires and hear of witches. There’s even a Vampy God Father, which is downright awesome.
It’s light and cute while also quite serious as you contemplate social dynamics and politics. Cydney actually feels quite a heavy level of guilt and must learn to process it as she comes of age.
Honestly, I read this and immediately gave it five stars. This is a world I want to see more of, and seriously think it could turn into quite the series.
I can’t say this enough: I really loved this story. Read it.

Hint, kindle has a desktop app. This is really short. It wouldn’t be bad to sit at your computer for ten to fifteen minutes here and there to read it. It was so good.!
