So my long time email friend and fell LJ user mhovley has a missionary. Yesterday she posted how long it is till he comes home. (It is at Christmas time this year.) She has some kind of neat count down clock type thing.
Well I think it would be cool if she could post that on her LJ at least on the user info page if no where else.
Well LJ does not allow for flash or javascript.
Hmmm.
How do I make something dynamic? I mean I know things like The Weather Pixie work, and that’s dynamic. It is done with PHP. Thus far I can’t figure out how to make it work. It would be kind of cool if I could make something like the weather pixie but have it be a little missionary and instead of the weather have it list the countdown on it. That would be REALLY cool. But so far I have not been able to figure out just how the weather pixie works. So I have no idea what to do. GRRR Rats.
I mean, that would be cool, don’t you think? Be able to do something like that? There HAS to be a way. There just has to!!
Any thoughts or ideas would be welcome. I tried to find out info last night and I’ve spent an hour this afternoon trying to figure it out. Then I was sooo tired so I tried to take a nap. Couldn’t sleep.
So I’m going to do housework, muddle through this in my head, and see what happens.
To Do:
1. Clean bathrooms. Or at least the boys’ bathroom if none others.
2. Dishes
3. Pick out book for tonight for Enrichment
4. Dry laundry
5. Wash another load of laundry
OK, that doesn’t sound like tooooo much. Surely I can find the energy to do this little bit. I need to.
Think I’ll catch up on some BOM reading with my discman. I’m a few days behind due to this lethargy/tiredness type thing. Someone remind me that if I’m freaking researching on the web to listen to that blasted thing at the same time. HAHA I mean duh. Why is it these obvious things are the things we NEVER think of? I mean, hello?! LOL

It is going to be tricky, but I like a challange. It is just a matter of coming up with the way to do it. I mean weatherpixie works. If I can figure out how that is done then I could probably do the same thing. Or something similar. Now if you had a website I could hook you right up. But for LJ not so easy apparently. They don’t allow Flash or javascript. Which is fine, I understand their point about malicious code. Not that I want to do THAT but you have sad people who do and ruin the rest of us and our fun! HEHE
PHP would work except you can’t make your LJ php. Sooo makes it tricky. I was also busy today so I didn’t have a whole lot of time to devote to it. If i can keep up with my housework and reading for book club I’ll work on it this week. Otherwise I’ll bang it out next weekend. Or at least, try to bang it out next weekend! 🙂
THere has to be a way to do it. I just need to investigate ways. 🙂 I really do love a challange and if it teaches me something, great. 🙂 And if it is really that challanges then I’m going to let people know I can do it so they don’t have the nightmare of figuring it out for themselves! 🙂 HEHE We have 12 months to go… surely I can figure something out by then?
This is why I want to go back to school…hehe
