Dear Loyal DISH Network Customer,
I am very pleased to announce that we’ve successfully reached a long-term agreement with Viacom to provide you with CBS and MTV Networks including MTV, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon. I am happy to say that this agreement will allow us to continue to provide you the lowest all-digital price everyday.
I understand that it has been a difficult 36 hours to be without these popular channels. We appreciate your patience, your support for DISH Network and your continued business.
As promised, you will receive a credit on your next billing statement. In addition, we would like to thank you for all of your support by sending you a free DISH On Demand Pay-Per-View coupon that will allow you to view upcoming hits like “Cat in the Hat” and “School of Rock.” The coupon will arrive in your April billing statement. Enjoy a movie on us.

Wow, and they gave a discount and a free coupon!
Yeah… the problem is that TV stations are there to sell advertisements to the viewers. If suddenly millions of people can’t see your station, millions of people can’t see your ads. Doesn’t seem like a good idea to cut off your viewers then. π

Yup.. Dish is great about that
Every time they raise our cost (like a buck and is generally only annually or ever two years..) they send us a coupon for a free movie. Which I never use and then pick up about three days after it expires. Slacker me!
Yup.. and it is the adverts that has the whole wah wah over “locals” Baaah you know what I’ve been getting NY and LA for years and their ads are exactly the same. I know, I’ve enjoyed a show so much I tuned in for the later showing just to watch to see if I missed anything. Think about it… you see a McDonald’s ad it is the same here, DC, Detroit, Miami… and it isn’t like you have to go running out to Miamia for a Big Mac. You know “Hey that looks good” so you run to your one down the street. Baaah whatever… nationals are FINE.. ROFL.
Yeah cut off viewers so they can’t see the ads that PAY FOR YOUR CHANNEL.
Last night I hear Cartoon Network had a viacom ad that said “This network now only available to DirecTV and cable customers.” How wrong is that? Oh well Viacom you wasted buckets of $$ there… no more can you show that ad!

Well that’s funny because we could not get the channel to see such a scrolling message. Instead we got a screen that gave us all the contact info for the managers and the HQ and the advertisers!!! HAHAHA
