Need a great place to go for Mother’s Day without the wait? Apparently Friendly’s is the place to go. Wonderful!

I spend every Mother’s Day Weekend cranky as spitfire because I know going for our dinner out will cause nightmarish waits. Everyone wants to take mum out for her special day so she does not have dishes or cooking or anything to worry about. Such wonderful and loving families.

I know I should not be annoyed by this as mother’s definately deserve it. Hey, I’m a mum, I know what it is like. We do deserve our own special day to be pampered and loved.

However it annoys me to no end. My birthday is around Mother’s Day. Which means I get the combo effect. And even worse when going out for my birthday dinner I’m fighting the mother rush. And I have everyone making a big deal about me being a mum and it is like ‘GRRRR IT IS MY BIRTHDAY”. Yeah last year was the major grump that happens every so often… the year my birthday IS Mother’s Day.

Well we went to Friendlys. It’s more kid oriented so I’m thinking while everyone else had their mum’s out at Outback and Olive Garden, two restaurants I barely tolerate, I went to Friendly’s. Wait time to be seated? Three minutes. You just have to love that!

Of course Friendlys has its downfall. The chain is notorious for their slow service. Maybe that is because they take extra care making their food? I’m not sure. But the wait for food is a bit longer, that’s fine. At least we were sitting and had our drinks, and were able to enjoy ourselves.

An interesting coincidence last night, our server bore the name “Emilia”. I had to ask. “Ma’am, how do you pronounce your name?” Just as I thought! So I told her how if we’d had a girl we wanted to name her Emmalia. Emmalia Elayne. The woman was from Checkoslovokia and said she’d never found anyone here with it but it is over there. I left with the impression that it was one of those names some people have but not everyone has.

At least the migraine I got from being outside passed. And after the kids went to bed I got industrious and packed up almost everything in the basement. What’s left I will save for moving week and shouldn’t take but 20 minutes to wrap up. So that’s one whole completed floor, which definately excites me! My goal this week and next is to get everything packed that isn’t going to wait for the week of the move.
