We took Grandpa out to lunch. My mom says that if she doesn’t he won’t make it to his appointment on time. After lunch we went on over to his PT which was actually a class called PACE. Something like “People with Arthritis Can Excercise” Something like that. So he grumped about how he didn’t see a point in throwing a ball to someone who wasn’t going to catch it while sitting in a chair. LOL But he definately was moving better after the class. Mom said he did fall asleep during the class for a little bit. He’s been doing this more and more. Just dozing off.
After dropping him back off at Wilburn we went to Target to pick up a few things. Mom picked up Pitch Black as well as the Riddick game for XBox. I picked up a couple things for around the house like batteries and a bin for toys and some of those disosable toilet cleaners.
We followed that up with a trip to the supermarket. We didn’t feel real well either of us. Not sure what mom was not feeling well over but I was really hot and then we got these drinks in Target that made me then get dizzy. So we decided to just pick up chicken salad and potatoe salad and three bean salad and have ‘mixed salad dinner” I guess you could call it. Then it was home. The kids played and we tried to recover from whatever was wrong with us. Maybe it was the V8 splash or the heat or what. Since I didn’t sleep real well and my hips were hurting… it could have also been fatigue on my part to boot.
We watched Clean Sweep and giggled. Talked about some ideas for what we could do in here. We got a marvelous idea for my mother’s room which will probably be done last. But she says she wants to work on it a bit as well. One of the episodes we watched they did “his and hers dressers” and i thought that was great. And they addressed some ideas for clothing storage. This is a major issue for my parents as they don’t have a closet. They sacrificed their closet some time ago to put a bathroom into their room. So right now among the mass quantities of other stuff, they have a double bed, a dresser, a chest of drawers, two end tables, and a wardrobe. Surely we can figure out something with the wardrobe and matching his/her dressers. I think I need to start watching more decorating shows and the like for more ideas on this front.
I did bring up the 30 minute thing with my mother. She thought this might be worth at least trying. So hopefully we can do this. I pulled a lot of the paper stuff off her desk. Put it in a giant stack on a shelf… I took all the books and put them on a bookshelf. Now all that is left is other stuff that is cluttering. I don’t have anything to put it in. But tomorrow I’m hoping to tell her “OK, 30 minutes… clean up!” and see where she gets. All the papery stuff we have contained for now so she can deal with everything else.
I did try to clean out her living room just a hair. Remade the kids pallet. I filled two small bags for her to go through. Got a lot of stuff within easy reach on the floor taken care of. When we do that room she’s going to be upset. She says she doesn’t want the kids to really play/hang out in there. But they need a place where they can do stuff. I think she needs to realize that. But I’m going to try to take the kid stuff all out and try to make a nice sitting room and then move their stuff back in. I’ve some ideas if she lets me clear it the way I want that the kids stuff won’t detract too much. Here’s hoping. It’s wall to wall knick knacks right now.
My laptop does seem to be OK right now so whew… I’m still nervous. EEEK. You guys know I use it too…
BTW we’re watching Pitch Black… this movie is baaaaad. But hehe… we are having fun mocking it. 🙂

Ugh I woke up with a horrible pain in my lower back. Prompted me to rearrange bedding. Of course it was very taxing on hurt back. 😦
Mum said she’d give it a shot, but she has yet to pay up. 😉 Hoping to get her moving. Problem is that she just wants to sit and play games. I told her to reward herself for her good work with games. That’s what I do! After I did my work this morning I played with her! 🙂 Maybe I should have told her no Riddick until her desk was clean 😉 Like I do my kids… bwahahaha “No games till your room is clean kiddies”)

Re: yum vin diesel
sadly the motive must come from within. In my case it is the recognition that my cluttered, disorganized trash heap of a house is standing in the way of being the expressive person I desire to be. (expressive is the term I’m using to encompass several areas of my life including writing that I am working to change). If it weren’t for the work I’ve been doing in the Change Your Life in 30 Days (rhonda britten) book and my watching Starting Over – a daily daytime tv show – I wouldn’t have the drive to conquer this mess and I’d still be avoiding it.
If you treat her like a kid, she’s just going to rebel when you move back out. And ask yourself what you want, to change her while you are there, or to change her attitude for good? If it were me (and I have an Aunt who is a pack rat and before they put her in the nursing home you couldn’t get to literally half her house) I’d vote for long term change. You just have to keep looking for the right motivator to get her going.
