So today has been INSANE. Yes. Insane! So much to do!
OK, first off it was wake up and shower and make a shopping/errand list and etc. So finally we manage to get everything wrapped up and mum and i left. Off we went and it turned into a quest. Well first off we had these coupons for JoAnn’s. 50% off. One was for framing and I had something I want framed. Turns out the one here is tiny. Can’t frame any closer than bloody Maryland. Blah! So much for that. So I’ll have to look into other options to protect something I have here. *SIGH* Also this store being so small they didn’t have any of the stuff I’d have liked to use a 50% off coupon for. But there was this neat scrapbook embellishment keeper for 20 bucks. It is the black canvas and has little plastic boxes. So I got it with one of our 50% off coupons. We don’t know yet what to use the other one for. Since embellishments were 50% off I went ahead and picked up some grommets. Though I’m not sure what I’ll use them for. Maybe cards. Well I picked up this multipack of grommets that came with the tool to put the grommets on with. Turns out though that’s not 50% off. Oh well. I probably should pick up the tags but I still can’t figure out what I’d do with those so I didn’t. I may go back this week and see if I can figure out some other embellishments to get. They had almost no die cuts or anything. And still we have this 50% off coupon that I have no clue what to get. *SIGH*
After that was the quest. Bike stuff for the new bikes. Well we got almost everything needed except tire stuff for Joram’s. Took us three stores. The size I guess is odd. GRRR… But all is well, we got the stuff finally. We also got the boys helmets. Caramon has a new batman helmet and hot wheels pads/gloves. Joram has an orange race driver helmet and his glove/pad set is green with some stars or something. Yay! Dad and Sir M put everything on the bikes and took care of other maintanence so the boys are good to go. Now Joram just has to learn to ride a two wheeler!
We also hit the grocery store. Woohoo.
Tonight we watched three Clean Sweeps! Holy Cow!
Plus tonight was the ward 4th of July on the 3rd of July activity. Boys and I went and had fun. I caught up with people and the boys played tons of games. We now have so many pinwheels! HAHA They also won two cakes!

When you said JoAnn before, I figured you were talking about a friend of yours. But now I think it’s a store, lol. So what exactly is it?

You haven’t been to JoAnn’s Etc???
OMG it rocks! It’s soooooo cool. It’s a craft and fabric store. Think Micheal’s but with the fabric of Hancock’s to boot. So you *generally* get tons of fabric, sewing supplies, machines, scrapbooking, stamping, painting, woodworking, framing, upholstry, flower decorating stuff, everything. 🙂
The website is http://www.joann.com

Hmmm, dunno. It’s a great store. I like it because it is like two stores in one. Fabric store and craft store. Of course here it isn’t like that. 😦 I had TWO within about ten minutes of my house in Ohio so this is gonna be hard. I guess it will be Hancock’s for fabric and Micheal’s for crafts from now on instead of a one stop shop. 🙂 Oh well doesn’t bother me, I like Micheal’s as well! And I THINK the Micheal’s here is cool. Haven’t been in it yet so it could have changed.

OK for your framing needs, try Michaels, they generally have coupons each week with the general 40% off coupons. But then I remember Dre at JU’s escapades with them and think, eh maybe not. The store I work at has a framing dept, and you get things back typically the next day or 2. Try looking in your yellow pages for framing, you might find a smaller scale craft store that does framing or a local frame shop.
Oz, honey. In the scrapbooking world grommets are eyelets, and there are any number of things you can do with them. Run fibers through them for an embellishment or border, attach vellum to a page with it since glue is sometimes difficult, use as corners on a mat for that “photo corner” look. Oh and you can make your own tags and use eyelets for the hole too.
Blank tags are good for journaling, or titles, or put some stickers them and make a cool embellishment for your page. Try cutting pictures to fit on them, you can add more pics to a page that way. Run fibers through them and you’ve got a minibook on a page. Also good to stamp on and put either on your page or on a card.
Pre-decorated tags are good for embellishments on a page or card.
Diecuts- look for Sizzix at Michaels or a scrapbook store. Have you seen Sizzix? It’s like a personal size die cut machine. They have alphabets and shapes and all sorts of things. All the rage for die-cut fans. The machines and dies themselves are pretty spendy, but with the coupons at Michaels not so bad. Especially if you like die cuts. Me, eh , not so much. The big companies don’t tend to make die cuts anymore. We carry two brands that I can think of… K&Co’s line has some die cuts that match their papers and Deluxe Designs makes laser cut die cuts that are kinda neat. I have several of those myself. You can’t really journal on those though, mainly just embellishments.
This is the end of the test of the emergency scrapbooker alert system. If this had been a real emergerncy I would have shown up at your door and dragged you to a store nearest you. Have a great day.

I think I’ll just go to M’s
but like you I thought about that horror story from JU! EEEEK. But I had something framed by M’s in Ohio and it worked out just fine. No nightmares so *shrug*
Eyelet to me means lace. And all my srapping friends also call them grommets. Probably, well, I don’t know why. Probably because they are grommets? I dunno. LOL. I still don’t think I’ll use them on my pages as I just don’t get the big deal. I figure I’ll use them on my cards. They had weird lacy stuff with the embellishments but I was thinking once more cards not scrapbooks. Got me. And the tags… I just don’t like them. They say “Yard Sale” and so I just can’t picture putting something on them. I guess I really need to see some good examples. Generally my titles take up more space than those little tags would allow for.
The Sizzix! I knew what I was looking for but couldn’t find it with the Xyron! THat’s the name of it. It was making me NUTS! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I really like the Joleen’s die cuts though so I don’t know if I could go back to just simple die cuts. HEHE. I just wanted to make sure I got something good for 50% off. They didn’t even have the bloody cropper hopper! :< GRRR. I use my dies for embellishments, not to journal on. I just journal on the page or the backing paper. I like the pretty die cuts you can't journal on and that's why. Probably because when I started scrapping back in the stone age of scrapping there were nothing but plain dies. HEHE So I just love the new stuff they have now! I'm so glad scrapping has become so popular!

Ok so now I’m on a mission. To find you good examples of tags and eyelets. The funny thing is, I’m not a huge eyelet fan. I think they are more trouble than they are worth. But if you’ve got the tools, and the urge to use them on cards, might as well see ways to incorporate them on pages. I bet the new SU catty will have lots of examples since it’s going to be combined scrappin/stampin.
Ok here’s a totally new to me eyelet idea, but it’s pretty cool if you use the really small eyelets.

Here’s a kind of regular use of them, but more important, check out the page idea. Art journal scrapped, with “quiz” answers. I like it. I see a 6×6 album… heehee! 🙂

Another good one:

OK now to search for tags. I like tags. 🙂
This one is cute:

Title tag:
http://www.scrapjazz.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=79853&password=&sort=2&cat=531&page=1
Tag with picture on it:
http://www.scrapjazz.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=79014&password=&sort=2&cat=531&page=2
Tags on a layout:
http://www.scrapjazz.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=73056&password=&sort=2&cat=531&page=5
OK so you don’t have to love tags and eyelets. But I just wanted to show you that they can be more than yard sale items 🙂 I don’t think any of those links scream “Yard sale!” to me LOL! 🙂
To each their own, right ? That’s what I like best about scrapbooking, and what I tell my customers.

Well I figured I’d have use of grommets elsewhere so why not. I doubt I’ll use them on a page though as well, that’s annoying. Who knows though I may come up with something that needs it. As long as I can put it through backing paper I guess I’d be OK with it. But plenty of use of grommets in other stuff. I just really want something I can use this dumb embellishment box that I have now… HAHA I think I’m going to go buy some beads or something at Micheal’s (since the JoAnn’s didn’t have that either) and put that kind of thing in it too.
OK, the first one? No way would I do that. I don’t like it and that is way too much work. HAHA
Were those the grommets at the bottom with the stars on the second example? Star shaped grommets? I’ve never seen such a thing!
Now the third one I liked. It was cute. I think the garland was cute as anything!!
The tags… I like that first one. Was it a bookmark? Made me think you could also use them as gift tags.
The zoo title tag was definately interesting. I didn’t think about one letter on each tag… that might actually work. I always heard “put title” and thought “that’s not big enough” thinking they meant just write the title on the one tag and put it somewhere. You know me, I like my 12×12 and one puny tag just wouldn’t cut it.
The picture one… how big is that tag!!!!
The layout one, the round tags are OK… but I just don’t like that other one…
Thanks for the examples! All the tags I see are the sales tag looking ones. I’m going to have to look for the round ones. They are better! Thinking they might be fun for a BINGO page… not that anyone I know plays BINGO so much for that. LOL! But you could make a cute christmas tree with them if you can find coloured ones!
