You have been warned.
OK, so yesterday I dropped the kids off at VBS and went to the bank. Then I came home because I was nervous and wanted to check my balance. I wanted to go looking for a chair and figured I needed to know my balance. Wow, I had more than I thought i did so that was good. I tend to pad our account a bit. Rounding up to the nearest five dollar mark for small things and 25 or 50 for the bigger things. I figure that way it covers fees and extra crap and yadda yadda. I know, weird, but it works.
So anyway, I was trying to decide what to do. I had several things I wanted to do. I wanted to go looking for a chair. I wanted to go look at Micheal’s to see if I could find something since I have a 50% off coupon. I wanted to go take some photographs. I had several things I needed to do. Well in the end? I went and took the photos and didn’t plan on taking near as long as I did but I took a really long time. I already kind of mentioned that. I did several different types of pictures on places I stumbled onto.
After that I was starving. So I went to the bagel shop and got a bagel and schmear. MMMM. And I sat in there all by myself and read a photography book I got last month or something from the bookstore for real cheap. Yeah probably should have read before going out I’m dumb that way. It was wonderful though!
I still had a little bit of time, so I went to Bath and Body works. One of the things I wanted to get was one of those little lap desks. You know where they are flat surface and have that like bean bag whatever underneath? I want it for my laptop. ANd I suppose writing or whatever. But mostly the laptop. I’d seen they had one on sale there for 10 bucks. I don’t think it was quite what I wanted so I decided to look elsewhere. I don’t think it was a sale anyway after I got there it looks like that might be the regular price. I did see one of those disk chairs like at Target. It was actualy on display but it was tiny. Not what I want. I’ll definately ask to see one open before buying the one from Target if I go that route.
Then I picked up the kids and came home. We ate lunch and then I let them play and stuff. Probably should have gone back out but I didn’t feel like it. I was kind of enjoying not doing ANYTHING. OK, I did read my email and catch up there. And I pulled my pictures off my camera. I can’t believe how some turned out. (Go to my moblog if you haven’t and you can see some.) I also chatted with some friends.
I did get a package! OK, the other reason I decided not to go anywhere. I got home and the mail person had just stopped at our box! YAY! Jenn had mailed me the catty for Stamping Up and for their scrapbooking thing that are just now going out. She said they were my gift and I could use them because they do have ideas. Well oh my gosh but there was a set I hadn’t seen before! Build a Bot! ANd it was discontinued. I actually saw another set. I was so sad. She told me I could still place an order. I probably wouldn’t have but mum found like 10 she wanted. So guess what. Yup, emergency order went in! How sick are we? I decided since mum was buying all those others (which are really going to be mine because I’ll be the one who keeps them) that I would go ahead and purchase my two. Don’t ask. Way too many stamps are coming in… haha I think the last order was going to come in in three parts. Starting next week. I have no idea if this will all come together or not!! LOL.
We had barely made up our list when I got a frantic phone call from Amy. She is also a photographer like me. We’re both nobodies with dreams and passion. (She’s also a writer. Any wonder why we are friends?) She’d taken pictures at a wedding last week and had just picked up the prints. Apparently her cable was faulty or something. Half the shots were underexposed! And all the GOOD ones. I mean tons of pictures of people doing the Electric Slide and Macarena. Perfect! The one of the bride and her grandpa? HORRIBLE! She was in tears. She had Elements and was trying to fix stuff and couldn’t so I raced over to see if I could help. Boy she knows who to call. Didn’t realize till I got there she only had Elements. Thankfully I had my laptop!
This led to another dilema. How to get her pictures to my laptop. She doesn’t have a router and I don’t have a patch over cable. (Sir M said he would make me one.) Neither of us have floppy drives. Yay, I had my whole case! Thus… CDRW!! So I ripped stuff to cd and was able to go back and forth that way. Two hours later we had several prints that might be acceptable of the bride and grandpa dancing. I hope! I don’t think we did too bad considering what we started with!
Well as it happens, Ellen was having a party for Party-lite and USBorne (sp?) Books. Amy told me to come. She forced me. So I went over. I got a couple little five dollar books for the kids. I’d have loved to buy more but those books are rather odd, we were late and I didn’t feel like fully looking at the catalogue, and I was tired. I was also grumpy about scary mom house of tinder so I decided to stay far far away from the Partylite catty. I told Ellen, “When I get my own place, invite me and I’ll buy lots of candle stuff. I love that stuff.” She grinned. She feels my pain. She’s living in her parents basement. At least she has a little apartment down there so it is kinda like her own place… but it is still mom and dad’s.
Amy and I were starving so we stopped at Friendly’s for a bite to eat before coming home. We talked a bit. We mostly talked about how hard it was to deal with “normal” people who don’t understand the “real world.” Her oldest son is autistic. Her younger son is Asperger’s. And of course Caramon had cancer. Plus we married guys who didn’t serve missions (some big snooty no no to a lot of people at our church.) ANd of course the fact we are only half active at church due to the trouble we’ve had with our sons. People don’t understand that either. “What do you mean you aren’t bringing your son even though he has no immune system? He should come. A three day hospital stay is worth it for your salvation.” Um, no. You are highly mistaken. So Sir M and I have become real fanatical. If anyone in our family is sick we just do not go. You don’t know who you might be sitting next to.
So today was much slower till I picked the kids up from VBS. Then we went to lunch. Dad wanted to take us to Friday’s. This place is so-so. But hey, free food so I’m game. Then we went to Best Buy. Since we have this desk to put together for Sir Megabyte that mum and I got earlier this week, we decided to do the two computers there where it is going right. We’ve got to move them and everything anyway so hey! We have a MESS of cords. So we picked up two of these cable wraps so that it will hopefully look nicer. And labels so we can label what everything is. Hey, are we smart or what? Mum also picked up a cheap DVD for the boys.
We had used up enough time to make it 3pm… that’s an ice cream social at Grandpa’s home. So we go over and the kids got ice cream and we visited grandpa for a while He seems OK today. And he is moving a LOT better. Mum had him out all day yesterday so I’m sure that has helped. The kids help set up for dinner there. They think they are hot stuff. They were paid in chocolate milk. They definately liked THAT.
Home again, home again and we’ve done almost nothing since. Lazy fools are we!
I’ve been playing in Photoshop. Trying to come up with some more ideas for what to do to help Amy. Mostly just playing. I’m saving stuff. I wish I had thought of this with some of my other work I’ve done. I have been making actions! I have my own little action set going!! Isn’t that cool! I have created two actions now that I like!! I have one that makes a soft, green tinge picture. Sounds weird but trust me, looks neat! Think sepia only instead of brown it is green. The one I just did is kind of like an old tv picture. I’ve been playing with the Duotone and Tritone and stuff.
I’ve no idea what else to do. I’m gonna keep muddling through though!! Why not? It’s fun!
