Time for the backdating… OK..
So I get a bit of a later start than I wanted because my parents were waiting for some window guy who never showed up. But they wanted to do the lunch thing so we did the lunch thing. This is the third time we’ve been to Friday’s on Friday for lunch since I moved here. ROFL.
So at any rate away I go and traffic isn’t so bad until the Dale. And then? Only at Dale. Go figure that one. I got past Dale and it was moving again. Woot. So because I needed a specific cross street for the correc parking lot, I had mapquested the directions to get to the Pentagon. I mean, I’ve been up there before no problem, but since the building is huge and lots of streets are around it, I think “Hey if I do mapquest and get the right exit, that’s les time driving around the building looking for the right lot.” Made sense right? So you’d think
So I get to exit 8c which is the exit I would normally take. It even looks like it might be the right exit but isn’t quite the right stuff on the sign plus mapquest said to take exit 9. That’s fine, one more exit, shouldn’t be a big thing. Must be on this slightly further north side of the Pentagon. Okies… Fly past exit 8c and suddenly… there is no exit nine. There’s an exit ten and it is definately not right either but now I’m north of the ‘Gon so I need to definately turn around. So I pop off at exit 10 and try to turn around and get on 395S. As I enter the ramp, I see… this road would have taken me to the ‘Gon.
Grrr.
Well the next exit? NINE! GRR and double grrr. Well I take this and it takes me all around the North side. I see the NE, N, and NW side. Completely cup the top of the Pentagon with no way to get off. I see parking lots, I’m on the mobile with hubby and he’s confused to. And then… I see “To bridge…” Ack… I don’t want a bridge! That will take me INTO the District and I do NOT drive in THAT madhouse. No thank you. I go across from the Pentagon into the mall and ride the metro in thank you very much. I start sweating. Thankfully I get to where I can either turn and go over the bridge (I can see it) or I turn the other way and go into Arlington Cemetary. Hmm… Or I can turn around on that weird road I was on. OK… Turn around. Well yay! There’s an exit that will take me to the Pentagon. I’ll take it and drive aroudn the dumb building if I have to!
Nope. It’s coned and barrelled off. AUGHHHH ROAD WORK!
So I get BACK on 395 and go to exit 8c. This time I’m taking it and to all hell and back again with mapquest. Guess what? It’s the right dumb exit. GRRRR.
So with that start… off we go. I let hubby hop in from the side of the road and we head out through town and north. We stopped a little before BWI and picked up drinks, snacks, and potty breaked. Sir Megabyte took over driving because my knee was really throbbing.
We had clear driving until we hit Delaware. 11 miles of no where land and it’s backed up. The whole way. Over half an hour to drive 11 miles on a “free”way. (I say it that way because it is a toll road so not real free.) But we finally cross the Delaware Memorial Bridge and woohoo enter NJ!
We got to my inlaws new home in time for supper. My FIL’s favourite pizza, the “party platter”. I still maintain that a party platter is in fact a veggie tray or a meat and bread tray and that it is far better than said pizzas which are nothing more than cardboard swimming in grease. He claims the best part of the pizza is the grease and he loves this so you can use your imagination. I got weird looks as I blotted my pizza with about three napkins. Needless to say, I only ate one piece.
We mostly hung out outside getting eaten alive. The new house is wonderful. I love it. They’ve put a lot of work into it as well and it shows. Good for them! They live right next to an orchard and the sky was clear so we pulled out the telescope. And that’s when I realized I was missing a piece to that set I got for my camera! ARGH. I could have sworn it was complete, but this piece is not anywhere to be found. Well I never set it up before so I either just randomly lost it or it did not come. GRRR. So I tried to take pictures but just couldn’t get it to work right. Of course getting eaten alive by bugs which I’m allergic to did not help. Sir Megabyte ended up taking all the photos.
Here’s the one that I edited and we printed off for my FIL and SMIL.

They loved it.
Oh and I gave my FIL the picture I framed for him earlier. He LOVED it. He showed it to everyone, even some friends that popped over for a bit. I’m so glad. I think it was crappy because I didn’t know what I was doing at all in photoshop, but he doesn’t care. I’ll try to get a picture with him and all the kids since we’re all up here. And make him a new and better picture. And most current of his grandkids until Wendy has her baby. (She’s due in a month and a half) She’s in VA Beach.
