We’re gearing up for DragonCon this week! The boys costumes are DONE. I’ll try to get a picture soon, but I don’t know if I’ll have time. I have so many pictures to load to the website! HAHA…
My costume pattern is cut out. Today we have to go get a zipper and embellishments and the like.
I’ve started putting stuff out to be packed already in suitcases. I’m really excited about the trip! I can’t wait!!
Yesterday we were busy running all over. Bunches of stuff we needed to find. The kids needed backpacks, we needed to make sure Grandpa was stocked up on stuff, and about a thousand other things. But we got all of yesterday’s chores done! Woohoo!! Go us!!
Last night Sir Megabyte wanted to play Horizons but decided not to since right now nothing is going to XP because they made some changes. The server was down for forever and I guess they want to make sure things are running smoothly? Funny though, mum bought herself a copy as well! She did play because she wanted to get used to things. Sir Megabyte came back and played some Hitman on th XBox. He’s only just started out and I guess he isn’t doing so great. He said his body count was way high. Oh well, hello garbage character! I swear every game you end up creating someone to learn it and that character sucks and so they are garbage! ROFL That’s OK, it is fun! 🙂
I got on Heroes last night. I had much better luck last night. Didn’t have any real problems but for one particular hour. It still wasn’t as bad as Sunday so that made me happy. Needless to say I’m now Security Level 7!! Woohoo! I did make a mistake that I”m not sure how I did last night when leveling up to 6. I could pick a new pool power and I tried to get Hasten but apparently it didn’t take and I got something else instead. One of my regular powers. I’m not really sure why. But I hear that I’ll have a chance to take advantage of that pool power again at 8 since I apparently didn’t take it at 6. That’s only one level away.
Works out for the best anyway. I can sit around and read the book and try to decide! HAHA. THere are some fun pool powers. Fly and SuperSpeed are two that interest me the most. HA! Hello, superman addict here… does that surprise ANYONE??? No? DIdn’t think so! 🙂 Of course I am not eligable for either of those until level 14. They are third tier. I can only choose from tier one and tier two. I’ll read in my mostly useless book. 🙂
As far as the book goes, my review so far is that while it is helpful, it seems to go on the basis you have some major understanding of the game. It is definately my least favourite of Prima Guides. It doesn’t explain what anything basic is. Like how the XP goes. When you defeat a villian, you get something that says for example: You have gained 8XP and 5 Influence. OK, XP is pretty straitforward. Any gamer knows what that is. That’s what gives you levels and progresses you through the gaim. It’s your experience. But what’s this influence stuff? And then the XP bar it fills up and then flashes and goes to nothing. Fills up, flashes, goes to nothing. I’m used to games where once it is full, you level. If I understand (I could very well be wrong) then it fills up ten times and that’s a level. There’s a circle of bubbles (There’s 10) beside it. I haven’t clocked it precisely but it appears that each time the bar fills up all the way and flashes, it fills in one of the bubbles. So this way if you have say 4 full bubbles you know you are 40% through your level. Very interesting but it took me a few levels to figure out that is what is going on. And I hope I fully understand that! LOL
Last night I grouped for the first time. I added two people to my Friends list! Yay peeps! They were very helpful and kind! And understanding that I was a total newbie! I love good gamers who are willing to have patience for newbies. We’re all newbies at some point so it is worthwhile! I appreciate their kindness and hope to see them ingame again soon! Anyway, if I understood them correctly the influence you get is CoH version of $$. Which is good because I couldn’t figure out how the heck to get $$ and thought I was dead broke!! Which was scary because when you die you create debt and I’m not sure if it is an XP debt or a $$ debt. You get transported to a hospital so it could very well be $$. I was getting scared as I was steadily heading out of newbie-dom and would thus be at risk of debt!! EEEEK. Boy was it nice to suddenly realize I had a stash of what is hopefully $$!!
I stayed up until 2 AM last night playing this game! It was loads of fun. The last two hours were me trying to figure out what powers to take and then running to finish up some contact stuff. I’m now officially out of the beginner zone and in a new area. EEEK. I can’t wait!
So never fear good citizens, Arleya is there to save the day!!
Now, we must RUN!!! Too much to do today!! EEEK

Influence is money. When you talk to the dudes who give you a message, you use the influence to buy those buff thingies you can use (like heals n’ such).
I never noticed an influence debt when you died, just an XP one. It’s not like EQ where you can die and lose your level, you’re just in debt. You get a darker circle thingie on the xp meter & when you’ve paid back all the debt the darker circle thingie goes away.

OK, so I did get the right gist on Influence
As far as that debt thing goes, see that’s something that could use some better explanation. At the front not buried somewhere. (It is possible I have not found it yet, but who knows. At any rate, it should be before where it is if it is in said book.) I just know that xp bar thingy says Exp x/y debt z Well my debt has been zero so far. Go me… I’m sure that’s only a matter of time. LOL. But debt doesn’t tell me what the heck it takes away from you. In Diablo you lose a portion of money as well as xp. In EQ you risk your stuff and you lose xp and possibly a level. (Aughhh hell levels) It just varies from game to game.
Maybe from what you are saying it is just an xp debt. So you have to remake that xp before you can start progressing again? At any rate, an explanation would sure be nice in the books. I mean, DUH… fairly common question. Oh well, that’s the differance between me and the author… HAHA.
We’ll see… I’ll keep blogging my progress. 🙂 I’m having a lot of fun right now. Of course newbie levels are usually fun because you don’t have a cost for death other than inconvience and it is all so new and you make progress. We’ll see what I think later on down the road. 🙂
