**LJ Idol Season 4 Week 0 Entry: Introduction/Open Topic**
When first I signed on to this crazy adventure that is LJ Idol, I realized that some topics might find my muse unwilling to bless me with her creativity.
I had no idea it would be on week one.
In my muse’s defense, she did pour out rich blessings upon my raw fingers. It is NaNoWriMo time, and somehow I am suppose to write 50,000 words in 30 days. Today I wrote 3100. So to my muse, I say thank you.
That does not help for LJ Idol though. Pondering my dilemma, I realize the crux of the problem lies in my writing training. I began as a journalist. Trained to write about other people, I am not cut out to write about myself.
Normally I would blog this wearing my sexy negligee while lounging in my waterbed. No bon-bons this week, it’s Halloween. A pumpkin full of candy should work just fine. That cannot cut it for LJ-Idol. I need to take this seriously. Professional clothes only, though I’m sure some of my regular readers will complain.
So, what do I do now that I’m dressed for success? How do I introduce myself to the masses out there reading along with LJ Idol? To my fellow Idol-bloggers? I do as any good journalist would do. (Note I said, ‘good’?) Research.
What can I possibly tell you that a perusal of my blog or a google search would not tell you? Yes, I vanity googled. How on earth do you suppose I would do research? You should try it sometime. There is something exhilarating about googling yourself in the dark.
Considering how long I’ve roamed the internet and used this moniker, I do not think there’s much you could not find out. My name is on my minivan for crying out loud. So if you see me rolling down the streets, honk and wave!
So who am I? Who is this insane gal by the name of Lady Ozma? So many things and more. Who am I not? The list is equally as long.
Mostly, I guess what you need to know is the basics. I’m a mother, a home-schooler, an aspiring writer and photographer. If there is a geeky pursuit, I dabble. I’m a jack of all trades, master of none.
Ride along with my blog and join in the insanity of my life. I promise, it is never a dull moment around here.
For now, I need to return to my fantasy novel. With 3100 words written and a goal of 50,000 I am still a long way off. Good luck to my fellow LJ-Idol competitors. I look forward to the adventure!

Pssst. I am not sure your link is correct for your Introduction submission, but I found it ok. You might want to double-check it

I am SO jealous. I haven’t had a chance to sit down and start yet, although I do know how the chapter begins.

I checked it and it looked OK?
What happened wrong? Please let me know so I can fix it.
As for my great word count, I started last night as soon as it was midnight… HAHA Now it’s 5:30. Lucky for me I actually had an idea for what I wanted to do. So it flowed out of my fingers pretty evenly. I’m very lucky. But, I am also working a little harder because I have several days that I’m not going to get much writing done. So I try to work extra hard. Better to start out ahead, you know?
I’m glad that you know how your chapter begins. Last year I didn’t have ANYTHING on November 1st. It sucked. HAHA So having an idea is GREAT! 🙂 Good luck!!! Let me know how your first day’s writing goes!!!

The underlying link is: http://ladyozma.livejournal.com/#item347139
It should be http://ladyozma.livejournal.com/347139
If people click on it now, they go to the front page of your journal, not the entry.
You should be able to make a second comment, and then delete the first.

I think eating bon-bons and posting from bed sounds like a fine tradition! 🙂

However, I felt that I needed to give this my all. I needed to take it seriously. Though I don’t know how long that might last. I may give up this dressing for success garbage and going back to eating my bonbons from bed to blog… by next week! 🙂

Silliness should always be approached seriously. It’s all we have.

I knew I couldn’t do both. This is my first time doing ANYTHING this public with my writing. I’m a wreck.

I write all the time. But I don’t share a lot of it. So I feel your pain. When I was a reporter you should have seen the mess I’d turn into before a deadline. How I survived without developing an ulcer is beyond me!
Good luck. I’m sure you will be fine. But, I do understand feeling like a wreck!!!!

I write business writing for other people: reports, memos and the like, but this is totally new. I have to remember that ultimately, I’m writing for me. 🙂

I’m good about writing about other people/things. This is the second time I’m supposed to write about me. That’s super hard. But, it’s a good excercise. 🙂 I mean, you’d think, “But Lady O, you blog.” But anyone that reads my blogs realizes… I have a different take on writing about myself… HAHA I try to get out of it or fictionalize it as much as possible.

I know my LJ is public, but I don’t think of it that way… does that make sense?

My LJ is public. I used to use it more like a diary. But after some familial drama and some other things… It’s kind of morphed. I don’t even knwo what I’d call it these days. LOL
I guess I didn’t realize just how public it was and that people would take things in a way totally unintended.

Most of mine is friends locked, but bits of me peek out now and then. My family is on my friends list, and that certainly affects how I post.

Well I decided I still didn’t want to lock my posts. I had actually done nothing wrong. But my SIL decided to lose her marbles. She does that on occasion. Oy.

My SIL is on my friends page. 🙂 I also work a job that makes locking my posts a better option.

I made a filter for “no family allowed” just in case any of my family tried to sign up just to friend me. LOL
I know, jobs can sometimes cause a need for locked posts. As a writer/photographer I freelance. So it’s all good for me! *GRINS*

I have a “No Family” Filter too. I don’t think I’ve used it in years though. I chose to lose some stuff unlocked and it really brought me closer to my sisters.
