So sweet…
Dear Jailbirds,
Hi, my name is Katelyn. I am 8 years old and I have spinal muscular atrophy. This is a disease that causes my muscles to get very weak. I use a wheelchair to help me get around because my legs are not strong enough.
I am so happy to hear that you are going to “jail” to help raise money for MDA. The money you raise lets me go to a special MDA summer camp. I have gone to MDA Summer Camp the past two years. At camp I get to do things that you can do all of the time without help like climb trees, swim, play softball, dance and go fishing. It is my favourite time of the year. MDA also uses the money you raise to pay for my wheelchair and special doctors that are trying to find cures for the disease that I have. So that maybe some day I will be able to have strong muscles.
I am sending you some pictures of me at camp this summer! I had a lot of fun at our casino night and I really like doing arts and crafts. Amber is my camp counselor she is really nice. I can’t wait for camp next year!
Thank you for helping kids like me!
Katelyn S.
Katelyn is lovely and sent three pictures. One with just her in her wheelchair I think at casino night since she has cards and stuff. Another with her camp counselor, Amber. And one doing arts and crafts.
It takes $525 to send just 1 child to the camp and children from age 6-21 are able to go. Katelyn is a local MDA girl and I wish her the best of luck and hope that they find a cure for her or something to help her. So with my bail set at $2100, I could send 4 children to camp. This year’s summer camp was themed “Camp Mystery”.
Caramon got to go to camp for the cancer patients at Children’s. He loved it. And it was free for the family. I don’t know who paid for it but thank you. Caramon had so much fun and I hope that the MDA kids can go and have lots of fun too!
