Halleluia! Halleluia!

Desktop now has Windows XP.

I’d love to share the idiot stuff we did to get it on there. I think the less you know the better. However some points of interest would be that we could not boot off an XP boot disc. APPARENTLY all you see is the floppy drive. No cds. No hard drives. Hmmm. We made it wrong or it just sucks. But we couldn’t find any other options. So we boot off 98 boot disc. Well that’s just fine and dandy but we’d formatted the hard drive NTFS. OOOPS. 98 Can’t see that. So Sir Megabyte finally formatted 10 gigs as Fat 32 and left the other unpartioned. We loaded the i386 directory from cd onto the c drive. Then ran install from there. From there we formatted the other 66 gigs as NTFS. Now we just have to figure out what to do with this other drive. Personally I’d like to just gobble up into the big drive and have one monster drive. No idea if we can do that.

But anyway, after hours of hard work watching it install and beating head against wall… We have XP. With sound. With DVD software. With Vid card software. And finally, with Divx software. No more. But let me tell you when we finally got the product ID key to take… I almost cried tears of joy. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. 🙂

When did I buy this hard drive again??? HAHA
