Got an email “This is yahoo blah de blah… virus mydoom detected in this email but we could not clean it so we stripped the attachment away.” I tried to figure out who the email was from… in case I could narrow down who really might have sent it unawares… but no clue. *SIGH*
Thankfully yahoo stripped it away. Of course it was in an email that said “Reply back” and had an attachment “story.zip” and it was “from” a drnephi. *SIGH… people.. do NOT open attachments unless you are expecting them. Even then still virus scan the heck of them. I’m probably preaching to the choir here. *SIGH* Oh well.
So some poor person I know is stuck with my doom and i have no way of knowing who.

and sadly I get a lot of virus emails – mainly due to my jokers email addy (for crying out loud people – get a virus program, keep it updated, and use the danged thing!!!!!). In fact I switched that addy so that it was going to yahoo because of the quantities I was getting of virus emails over the summer and yahoo does a good job of scanning, stripping and segragating.
We got a mydoom notice at work today – apparently there is a new version of it out there now.

I don’t get them that often… this is the first time i got hit with mydoom actually. Guess I’ve joined the rest of the world. But generally when a new virus hits I’m out there emailing all my people to tell them “Yo don’t open attachments”
Yahoo does seem to do a good job dumping viruses. Kind of nice.

I did get slapped last week with a virus from a site with song lyrics. Ticked me off. I’ve got install on demand totally turned off. Have active x turned off. Yet this stupid site loaded several adware programs and viruses. GRRR Thankfully I have a virus scanner that alerted me as the farking thing was downloading… but grrrr.
I don’t know if it is that this is home and my desktop is pro or what.. but this laptop just seems to get slapped with crap all the time. Makes me nuts. (Mostly adware… but I”ve had more viruses since getting the laptop in the end of December than my desktop has had in two years.)

I was hoping to be lucky enough to recognize the spoof. Oh well. Though with the name “drnephi” does make me wonder if it is one of my LDS buddies… hehe

it’s so dumb.
I know a couple of people have gotten virus emails from “me”, although I DO NOT have it…I am in someone’s address book who does have it. It really rips me, because my pals think I am Dooming everyone.

Yeah… I understand that it doesn’t come from who it says it comes from. I feel bad that people don’t understand. Of course it is usually them that are the ones with the darned mydoom type things. *SIGH*
btw beware… I know you and I might be in some similar addy books… and with that drnephi address… makes me wonder if it was someone from my LDS lists…
