the new one netsky.
My official rule is… All virus writers must be publically flogged naked in the dead of winter.
Then taken to the hottest place, thrown in a pit of mayonaisse and we can come and mock them and gawk at them.
GRRRRR.
GRRRRR.
And i’ve gotten some more failed to deliver emails. So someone’s computer is definately spoofing me. *SIGH*
BTW For any webdesigners… apparently the netsky came to me as an attachment called website.zip Sounds exactly like about the only thing I’d open… you have been warned!

grrrrrrrrrr. does this mean you are virused up? or just getting spoofed? what’s wierd is that i was wanting to beg for your email addy. if it’s located somewhere, i haven’t seen it. crikey. virusy crud is so, well, cruddy. =(

that’s the way these viruses go now. If i get infected it looks through my address book and says “Hey bob looks like a poor schmuck.” So it sends out a bunch of emails to people in my address book but it looks like poor bob sent it.
and I knew it was a virus so i didn’t open it… but the point was they are getting sneakier. Website.zip sounds like something more savy people will open it so it can invade… I just want to warn people… they are getting savvier. GRRR Farking virus jerks.
I’m like the email naxi. I don’t forward unless it is something AWESOME… if I mass mail I BCC, and I do not open attachments I do not know what are.
Gosh you don’t have to beg me for my email. 🙂 I don’t think it is in my profile. If there is none there, let me know. I’ll get it to you. 🙂 I’m fairly safe… especially when it comes to these evil email viruses. I don’t even hardly ever email pictures since I have a website.

well, i pass along regular ‘junk’, cute stuff, but not with attachments, etc.i only get it from one person who is cool, nice, and safe to me.
i rarely receive mail like that.
i was just wondering how it used your addy book when you didn’t open it. that is *too* sneaky. i think i remember looking for you addy around christmas card time, and not finding it there or on your site.

I don’t use my email address on my website. Or most anywhere else… I’m insanely paranoid. The spammers have spiders that harvest emails that way. I hate spam. With a vengence. So I often give out my hotmail address. It gets 3 tons of spam anyway 😉 HEHE So if the spambots got it who cares. They probably already had it. I hate hotmail… I do have a LJ one because I’m a paid member but I’ve no clue how that works… Back aroudn Christmas card time i thought I put up my hotmail and said for people to use that if they wanted to get my physical address to send me something… don’t remember. Too much has happened since then.
I’ve not a clue how those evil viruses do what they do. All I know is GRRR. I tell my friends over and over do not open attachments unless you are expecting them and run a virus scanner. But they don’t listen. *SIGH* So there go opening that picture of Anna Kornacova or whatever.. *SIGH*
I hate viruses. I hate windows for being attacked constantly with them. I hate virus writers. And I hate it when people do not protect themselves… hehe
I think I know one likely source of where these viruses are eminating… so I emailed those sources. We’ll see if anything comes of it.

i know what you mean. i like hotmail, but i dont appreciate windows and ie’s vulnerabilities. a few months ago, i had to reload windows (i did have xp pro on top of 98, turns out xp pro takes up wayy more space on its own) because of severe issues. ever since then? i have been more cautious of what i accept, cookies, etc. what i went through was awful, and i felt demolished, piece by piece (talk about a slow way to die) lol

Linux can be complex If you have knoppix or whatever that is… try it out. If it is the cd boot one it can’t fark your system *GRINS*

You know I was reading one of the ‘tricks’ to avoid getting spam because a spider finds your email off a mail to tag on a webpage..
Basically instead of putting your email address as mailto:somebody@domain.com you put in ascii codes instead. I’ve got it in a book downstairs and I’ll look it up if you want me to.
As for viruses.. your right they are getting ‘smarter’. some of them even use their own ‘mailer daemon’ program to send copies of itself out to other people in your address book. I had to send emails to the abuse department at that person’s isp to have them deal with the virus ‘issue’. I kept calling and emailing until they finally did something about it. You can probably tell which IP address it’s coming from.. so just contact that ISP and tell them that that computer is infected with a virus. If it’s a reputable ISP they should be able to handle it.

really, ascii? That could be fun..
I figure my hotmail is safe though. It gets about 90 emails a day to enlarge my penis… I don’t have one so I definately don’t want to enlarge it. (My husband gets all the enlarge your breast ones… haha) So I figure… what’s a few more crap emails to get dumped into hotmail… but still…
I must know now how to read the tags well enough to be able to tell for sure where the email is coming from. *SIGH*

that’s cool. 🙂 so what does it clean out old files from crap you’ve deleted or whatnot? Don’t you hate that? You uninstall something but it leaves a few various files that you can’t do anything with but they junk up your hard drive? Drives me nuts! HAHA
