I picked up the munchkins at the bus stop at 3 when the bus dropped them off yesterday. From there we stopped for gas, got some juice and water, went to the bathroom, and pulled onto the beltway. That was 3:15.

Things were going pretty well and traffic was exceedingly light. At 6:00 we stopped at some PA/WVa town and went to Wendy’s. The kids were so disappointed, out there in the sticks the Wendy’s isn’t happening like back home in the “home of Wendy’s”! No fruit cup instead of fries and no chocolate milk! And in fact the milk was just a small cartin of white! I couldn’t hide my surprise so on enquirey I explained to the workers. Needless to say I think there are going to be some requests made. (Especially because there were other children in line too that heard! Or should I say who’s parents heard!) This Wendy’s was totally happening to… tons of people there! I guess Thursday night is Wendy’s night in that town!

6:30 we are on the road again. I thought that because it was getting dark soon that I would just call and do a phone entry to the blog to update… but I found myself hurtling down the side of a West VA mountain on a road with no lines. I have no idea if I was in the left lane, right lane, on the road, or just doing Kramer’s “comfy lane” thing or what. (OK, reasonably sure I was on the road! HAHA) Of course since this is the side of a mountain, I’m winding left and right and left and right. Many places I’m the only car as far as I can see and I feel like I’m in some kind of post-apacolyptic movie where we are the only people left on earth!!! And of course since this is the side of a mountain… no lights to illuminate the way. Just my headlights! ACK!

Then I end up in some area where my phone keeps hitting roaming pockets. BUt it was unpredictable so I decided still no calling. Then I’m in Maryland and on a 40 minute quest to FIND GAS. Which eventually brought me to a Cumberland exit of confusion. See the gas station, pretty gas station…what I cant’ turn left coming off the exit to get to the gas station? I’m on some random Maryland road heading to pitch blackness so I flip an illegal U turn regardless of the blatant sign denying me. Cops would get “I NEED GAS” whining! Bleh. Then I can’t figure out how to get into the gas station but manage to find the way in only to find out the way out I need to go is a one way street…the wrong way! Thankfully the attendant was able to tell me how to get back over to the entrance I could see while gassing up.

The rest of the trip was fairly uneventful except for little boys chanting sleepily “GRANDMA GRANDMA GRANDMA” for about an hour or so. Finally sleep overtook them and about the last hour or so of my trip was to the seranade of boy snoozing.

Pulled in at about 11:15 or so and had to wake up little cuties so they could go attack the sleepy but waiting up for us Grandma with hugs, kisses, and all that kinds of loving!
