Last night I actually worked on Chapter 10 of the so called novel finally. I actually wrote 623 words. WOOHOO. Not quite my goal but better than I thought I’d get.

I ned to work today but have not. In a bit I think.

I spent some time outside today. I am picking up so many wireless networks here. I’m not sure why. And for some reason last week my laptop kept connecting to “linksys” instead of ours. So I thought about it as my laptop connected to it again today so I went to talk to the neighbours. I mean it is one thing to go out intentionally wardriving which may or may not be ethical. It is another to keep doing it inadvertantly. And I’d like to know who’s got such a signal that my wireless wants to hop on it instead of my network. Maybe they have made antennas out of pringles cans and are trying to take over the neighbourhood? HEHE

So I went over and my neighbours have a linksys but supposedly it was locked down. But they didn’t know the name of their network or the username/password is. So note to self… if setting up someone’s network, make sure they know all the details

So no idea who’s networks I can jack into. But only three of the six I could see were locked down. Mine being one. I do know we only have ours limited on users and then a WEP. I need to just lock it down to the MAC address of our cards. But I guess that will wait until we move because by golly i’m not gonna worry about it for a month. Besides, with the open networks, if I were wardriving I’d hit the open nets first. I’d at least hope…

I did amuse the guys with talking to them about this stuff. They had never even paid attention to the fact you can pick up other networks. Of course I think my card must be more powerful or something because I picked up way more networks than they did with our laptops sitting side by side. How weird is that?
