I have an old chest freezer. Like so old, I don’t even remember when my parents got it. It’s HUGE. I never use the whole thing. And right now it is running and I think all that is in it is an apple pie. But I’m moving so that is understandable.
I’ve had three offers for it.
At first I didn’t want to give it up. I’m a cheapskate and don’t want to buy a new one. However there’s no where in my mom’s house to put it. And though we could definatley use the extra freezer space with four adults and two kids living there, there is definately no way to fit it. Maybe if it were upright we could find a way to do it. But not with it being a chest freezer. I doubt I could clean sweep that much.
Well then I heard that fridges you can store them but I guess a lot of times it is just not good. And this freezer is like I said, no clue how old. Plus I would really like to not defrost it as I’m not sure how I could do that with all the cardboard boxes I have.
So I have three options:
1. Defrost and move and try to find someplace in mom’s house for it.
2. Defrost and move and store it in the storage unit and see what happens.
3. Get rid of it. (And no I don’t know if any of these people wanted to offer me money for it.) Buy a new one at ?? point in time.
So I suppose I’m going “shopping” today to see how much a new one would cost. I know I don’t need one that big. I need something to hold maybe 20 freezer meals, a bunch of bread, and stuff like that. Anyone know how big a freezer (upright or otherwise) a family of technically 4 would need?
And I wonder if I could clear enough space for an upright freezer in mom’s. All she’s got is one of those upside down fridges. So the little freezer is on the bottom. But I don’t like the idea of going to the grocery store daily like she does. I know she grew up in Europe and that’s what they do… but I personally hate the grocery store. Of course when she goes it is only 5 minutes up the street and I must admit I haven’t seen any lines there. But still. It seems like a half an hour of wasted time to me. Hmmm. Frankly we get by barely on our freezer on our fridge. I think the most I have ever at one time had in our large chest freezer was a ton of bread and 25 freezer meals. Maybe a few things of hot dogs and ground turkey meat.
Hmmmm.
