I enjoyed myself today with Melanie. She and I have been friends since high school. She played sax in the band and I was of course a flag. We were a year apart in school and peopl often asked if we were sisters. She’s beautiful so who am I to mind? Nope, didn’t mind at all! π
She’s got two boys, and they are just dolls. We met up at Chick-fil-A and let the kids play in the jungle gym there while we chatted. She’s doing well, looks great, and it was great to just hang with her. The boys had a complete and total BLAST so that’s good as well!
Her younger one, Ezekial, got a little cranky so she left to drive him and let him fall asleep. So I took the boys and just kind of bopped here and there. We popped into Game Stop and checked out their games. It’s an OK store but, eh… I just like to go to game stores since you tend to get actual gamers in there. LOL. Not like when you go to Walmart or Best Buy or something. The boys did talk me into buying them each a new game for their gameboys. So Caramon got a Zelda game and Joram got a Spiderman game. Spent a little more than I wanted, but that’s OK. We’re not exceptionally tight now, but we do still have a few large expenses that I need to pay out. Of course we have money the company owes us we are just waiting for, rather impatiently on my part. So of course me… I get antsy. LOL. But I get antsy way before any normal person gets antsy so ignore me… LOL.
We went to the Ukrops after that because we needed some side items for desert which mum had decided would be burgers. I didn’t really want burgers though so I lucked out. Mom didn’t want to cook. Wooot. We instead ordered Italian food which sucked. Well the chicken salad mum ordered was good. But the rest? Sucked. Oh well… at least it wasn’t burgers! π
When Sir Megabyte and I got home, we went and picked up a couple of things we needed at Best Buy. So that’s good. I am going to see if I can get him to help me figure out how to set my desktop up I guess in our back bedroom. I don’t know. But I need it for a few things. The problem is of course finding space for it. There’s a desk back there… but the desk is rather useless because of design for a regular desktop. Would be fine… if we had a flat panel… but we don’t. I mean it works great with my laptop on it! LOL But it isn’t a computer desk but a roll top desk and so… just not designed right for computers. But there is no where to put it so it is staying in there. LOL.
Sir Megabyte actually wants to put his computer and mine in that room but my issue is WHERE? The space is simply NOT there. So we shall see. *SHRUG*
While at Best Buy we did a little window shopping. It was kind of nice to get out just us. We just kind of talked and looked and drooled. I of course looked at City of Heros which has fascinated me since I signed up for the Beta (and never got in) several years ago. Le Sigh. But it is computer only and it is like 50 bucks for the game and 15 bucks a month to play. Ouch! Not real happy over that. But superheros??? I could find NO other superhero game for any platform. Ugh. We looked at XBox stuff. Saw several games that we wanted. So, I suppose I should have started a wish list but did not. Oh well.
That’s about it for happenings around here. Mostly just had a great time with my friend! It’s so nice to be near all my old friends! I have bunches… wish I could have get togethers with everyone… but one on ones and the like will have to suffice for now. Melanie and I did decide to do more together. She’s always out running around like me so hey… may as well run around together!
Tomorrow we’re both going to try to take our boys to the movies. The theatre here in Central Park is doing free movies on Tuesday and Wed mornings. Tomorrow is Sinbad. (I’m assuming the cartoon.) So we’re both going to try to go to that. I hope she makes it! π It’s at 10 AM…. eeeek. The movies are free but you have to pay for the goodies. Not a bad deal if you ask me! π

City of Hero’s
Three of my friends play that game for hours on end and love it. It was suggested to me as a game to play, and I am VERY picky about games. So if you want any information on the game I can sure ask my friends any questions you might have!!

I’ve followed the game for probably two years now. It very much interests me as I love super heros. π I’d love to get in and fight the good fight, ya know? But ugh on the price… π I’d love to see more than what I’ve read on the web… like oh… being able to actually get in and see what it is like, how you choose your “powers” and just how you fight the baddies. I played EQ for several years (more than I care to admit) and Earth and Beyond which I beta tested.
I just want a game where I can be a superhero… make superman fall in love with me… bwahahahaha… anyway… *GRINS*

I know this os more web reading and such… but my friend assures me you will learn lots from these links. He has been playing for well over 6 months now and is completely addicted… he says to him it is totally worth the money, if you think paying for an on-line game is worth it (and from you playing EQ I would think this would be good). So here you go:
http://coh.warcry.com/
http://www.cityofheroes.com/ (check out the forums under the community Link, lots of great information there)
http://vnboards.ign.com/City_of_Heroes_General_Board/b22054/ (more forums with good information)
if you have any specific questions just ask.
right now characters can get up to level 40, and they can have up too 20 powers (this will change so you can get more levels and more powers in the near future)

How hard is it to level? That’s what finally turned me from EQ. It seemed like such bloody work to level. Drove me postal. I do NOT want to have log on every day and play for 8 hours. I am a mom and I can’t devote 8 hours strait to a bloody game. No matter how much I love it! ! ! (Ahhhh Sims…)
We are paying for two EQ accounts right now so I’m not sure if I want to shell out for another account but gosh… CoH just looks soooooooo good. *SIGH*

My friend Brian says that it was really easy to level 6-7 levels at first and then it slows down a bit. He was actually affraid he would max out in levels before the next update (he is currently level 38 and they bumped the max level from 40 to 50) so he doesn’t know how that is going to work.. the developers are looking into it. They only do updates once every two months or if there is a major glitch. Brian also says that you can level quickly if you team up with others… which is pretty much like all the other games. He also said that it is easy enough if you wanted to get in and out of gaming every hour or so… but he says that he finds it hard to get out of the game because he is totally addicted!! But you can log in and out instead of playing for hours on end to level.. you do quests and stuff not like the sims at all (which i loved that game as well but couldn’t dedicate the time either!). So I don’t know if that helps you out with your decission… but I think I am going to try it now!!! So thank you for making me more informed!!!

Re: City of Hero’s
HAHA… great, in MY quest to learn more I have managed to make someone else decide to go for it… how’s that? ROFL…
I played EQ for years. But it really was to the point where it was work. You had no choice but to group to level. You’d fight for ages to get a group. Then you level so farking slow you have to stay in forever in order to see any progress. But like I said, I’m a mom, and I understand loving a game and not wanting to log out but you know, if I don’t cook dinner, no one will. And if I don’t do laundry, no one will. And if I don’t… well you get the picture. Four adults in this house and tonight I needed a time out so I went to the bedroom and played xbox. At 9:30 my kids were still up and I had to tell them to go to bed. *SIGH* See what I mean? LOL
Well I’ll definately post if I get it so I can try to hook up with your friend (and apparently you…bwahahahaha) should I ever bite the bullet. The other thing I hate is the cost. EQ comes out with an expansion every other second it seems like. It’s bloody expensive. GRRR. I’m sick of the expense of it all! And of course since we have two accoutns (my husband still plays both accounts) that’s double the dough. π¦ I am not sure i can afford another… Argh… But it just… it looks so fun. Wish they had something like it for the xbox. I’d buy that in a heartbeat. π
