Here’s the sewing area “Clean Sweep” pictures. I finally posted them! YAY! OK… here goes:
Before:

After:

Now in the before picture I admit that I took this right after we brought our stuff in. So there’s two baskets and a carseat and Sir M’s two spools of cable that is ours. But I took care of this stuff the day after I took the picture. But yup, this is pretty much what we started with. EEEEK. But look how it finished? I moved the chair out of the picture (Though you can see how it actually looks by going to my moblog) so you could see the organization. We used clear tubs of various sizes from shoebox to under the bed. You can see them on the two shelves under the sewing machine. They hold crafting notions and etc. We saved two projects for mum but we ended up being able to put them in that table. And look how small that table folds down to.
Please, tell me what you think!! Oh yeah and what’s now on that table is a radio my father brought in as I was setting up the picture. I removed it. (Actually it is my walkman that his mother gave me eons ago. But he apparently swiped it. She passed away when I was in 7th grade.)
Anyway, mum and I are very interested in your thoughts!! We’d love to hear from you! 🙂

Oh my godness! You rock! That is the best before and after ever! Especially since you didn’t require complete strangers to come in and detach you from all the clutter! Great job you guys!!

It looks amazing! You did a fantastic job! Do you think that it will be easy to maintain and keep it that way, or will old bad habits be easy to fall back into?

I’m not sure…
It takes 21 days to form a habit. So after we get things done I’m going to teach her how to hot spot. That’s the fly lady term for hitting those spots that seem to clutter up. For them that’s the flat surfaces. It only takes a few minutes to hot spot, it is just remembering to do it. And sweeping daily. So after we get things done I’m going to work with her forming the habits she needs.
I’ve cleaned her house before and it tends to just go back. Though I notice, last time I was out I cleaned up her entertainment center and it stayed just as I had left it. So that gives me hope.
I think it is easy to reclutter and fall back into the bad habits. However I’m hoping with me here to teach her good habits… I’ll ingrain in her how to do things properly. 🙂 One thing I’ve been doing already is she walks in and she dumps her mail on the stove. So I come right up behind her and pick it back up and hand it to her. “Desk” I say and she carries it there. This is it, I need to reteach her. Kitchen counters are for kitchen stuff. Dirty dishes go in the sink, not the counters. Mail goes to the desk. Etc etc.

I am still amazed. It’s been several days and I keep looking over and thinking “Wow”. Of course the last time this much free space was in this room was um… yeah don’t remember. It’s awesome! I am excited to continue working!!
I’ll let my mum know to keep it in full view. I hate the thing. It does not warm well. Basically if you are by it you feel like you are dying from the heat. If you get away you no longer feel anything. Bleh. But my mother is EXTREMELY cold natured so she loves the massive face of the sun heat.

Oz, that’s amazing. Truly amazing. If I hadn’t just done the same sort of thing to my bedroom and computer room I’d haeve you come do those for me. Hmmm How about Andrew’s room? C’mon down. The room looks GREAT. You and Mum should be proud.
Seriously, I agree with Liss. You should do it professionally. You seem to be in your element, and these people make tons of money. You could set your own hours and have an office in your home. I.e., great for when the kids are in school.

Hey I think you are doing great… you go girl! We’re having fun and yup… I am in my element! Do you think they really make tons of money? I had no idea it was as big as it was until I saw Clean Sweep… I’d love to do it more. Of course that’s just because I’m an organizing freak! Bwahahaha

Re: Thanks!
According to this website: http://www.napo.net/faqs/what.is.organizer.html#Q8
in 1998 the range was $40-200 an hour. I could live on that 😉
