Ok, here’s what I am thinking… I need my own chair. Here’s the situation… Please comment and tell me what you think.
Situation… even after we move, I have nothing to sit on. I got rid of my sofas. So this would be fine.
In this family room we are very limited seating. In fact here’s the seating. At my mum’s desk around the corner in her office nook is a desk chair. It’s one of those fancy kinds with a massager built in. So it stays there. Plugged in. At her sewing desk is a very cheap desk chair that is not exceedingly comfortable. especially not for laptopping. No one sits in it. Unless forced to. One final desk chair. Decent. It sits here by Dad’s computer and Sir Megabyte’s computer. Pretty much Sir Megabyte is in it if he is home. If he is by some miracle not in it? Dad is. So that leaves the sofa. It seats three. Very close quarters. And impossible if Grandpa is here.
Plus the most annoying thing. Sir Megabyte has this theory his chair can only face one way. Back to the sofa. Wouldn’t be too terribly bad except he leans back. Meaning that since I get delegated that section of the sofa I can barely get up or down off the sofa and I am totally squished.
I do not like this. Now that we have all that free room, I could easily put up a chair. No problem. Now I”m not thinking old man recliner because… ew. Hate those. I’m thinking Papasan. I’ve always wanted one. Well guess what? At Target today I saw one. Well it wasn’t bambo, it was more modern. Since it is Target. They have retro modern thing going on. I found it on their website.

It was 11 bucks off. It’s under 40 bucks. And it can snap into tinyness in a pinch. I’m thinking about going back and getting it. Best part is I can curl up in all comfy. I can probably laptop easily in it. I can spin it maybe if it is like a papasan which means better sitting for hurting knees. Even if I can’t spin it, I can still adjust myself sideways for knees. My mum will NEVER sit in it due to her back and feet. Dad will think it is too weird and probably won’t touch it with a ten foot pole. And I can put it opposite side of the seating area from Sir Megabyte’s chair of DOOOOOOM. Plus I can take it to my new place and have something to sit in while waiting to get a sofa. Will buy me time.
So anyway… need people to give me feedback. Is this silly of me? Is this a good buy? I have such a hard time actually spending money. Especially this much. Mum was noncommital. Though she feels my pain as I have to cram up next to her to avoid the chair of doom.
Please comment.

not to knock the wind out of your sails on this one.. but from experience with these types of fold up chairs – it won’t last and won’t be worth the almost 40 dollars. Love the look and can understand the want.. but I would try and look for a bamboo or wicker one.. just for the reliability.

Hmmm
So you don’t think this would be OK for just a while? Hmmm… I have those fold up camp chairs and they rock so I figured this would be fine.

Really?
Gosh it looks sooooo comfy!!!
I have one vote for and one vote against…
I’m going to have to think about this some more. But it just looks like comfort city. Don’t you just want to curl up in that? Nice blanket… a book… a laptop… make yourself at home?

Re: Hmmm
I just wouldn’t pay 40 bucks for it.. but that is just me.. I honestly don’t think it will last. But if you go into the purchase knowing it won’t last and surprisingly it does until you have your own space again, well then that would be a bonus! I have the camping chairs which are fine, but i bought a rocker and that broke in two weeks (30 dollars) and i also bought a chair with a foot stool attached that broke (35 dollars)… so I am a wee bit sceptical on the other models of chairs. BUT, I do love that style of chair and can totally see why you would love to have it for typing on a laptop all nice and cozy!!

Well mich, she is in the states, so that chair that’s 40 bucks would probably cost close to 70ish up here, so that could be a factor as well. I wouldn’t buy a 40 dollah chair up here.
I think you need to get them to open one for you in the store, and be able to try it out. DEMAND that they do. That way you won’t have to return it if it sucks when you get home. Of course I said this to you last night, but I was all tired and trying to get to bed. Its funny that the comment you wanted me to read was from one of my best friends! hehe.

Re: Hmmm
I have a rocker camping chair and I love it. I beat people when they go near it. It’s MINE. My mother tries to take it over. No way woman, that thing is mine. Unfortunately it is lost in the storage unit of wonder. LOL It’s lasted me um… er… can’t remember when I bought it. It was several years ago at any rate.
I have an update though i’ll be posting in my journal. I saw one (not sure if it is the same or not) at Bed Bath and Beyond. It’s tiny. So not at all as good as I thought anyway. I’m going back to Target to check this out and see if it is the same model. If so forget it. I mean I liked that it was small and could fold up but I don’t want TINY. I mean I might want those for kids, sure.. but I’m five foot four. Not four foot five! HAHA Dorm room furniture my big toe!!
I worry about getting the big bamboo one into my parents house. They have these tiny rooms with tiny doors and stuff. Those papasan chairs are three times as much and a LOT bigger. (And oooh sooooo wonderful)
Then again maybe I”ll buy the papasan anyway (saying I can even find one anymore) and just try to figure out how to get the bloody thing in… hahaha

Re: Hmmm
I didn’t realize that was one of your best friends! That’s cool!
Considering your price differance I agree wholeheartedly. That would be like a 20 dollar chair here or something and not a freaking way. I mean the camp chairs are OK, but I don’t want a bloody camp chair. That’s a little too primitive. LOL.
I agree with both of you. I think I should get them to open it up. I think this would be the best way because then I can also sit in it.
Any ideas for other seating options I could look into? I really really really really want someplace of my OWN to sit.

Re: Really?
I say look for an oversized chair. Yard sale, newspaper, CHURCH. Reemember my big oversized chair that went with my oversized living room furniture? That’s the most comfy chair ever. The downside? It takes up a lot of room. But it was SO comfy. If you[ve got a free corner, corners are good. 🙂 I gave mine to the missionaries and they love it. Inc fact, when they have 3 in the apartment, one sleeps on it, with the footstool. I mivss that cahir. And you don’t necessarily have to look for something in a color scheme, what with slipcovers and stuff.
Space issues…. how are the kitchen table chairs? How about one of those things you put on your bed with the armrests? Prop up against ta wall? Big fluffy pillow? Is there an ottoman? Trying to think of small spaces and not spending a fortune.
Forgive the typos. I’m having compuiter issues and too frustrated to go back and fix them.

This is my parents house. THere are NO free corners. HAHA They have tons of big huge stuff. And I’m sorry but I have no recollection of your chair. I remember your sofa though. MMmmm that was some GOOOOOD sleep! HEHE
There is one very uncomfortable small kitchen chair. Caramon sits on a step stool at the kitchen table. The boys are the only one who sit at it. It would fit four very cramped people. But there is only the one chair.
There’s no ottoman. Closest I have is an ugly coffee table.
