I took the kids to VBS and they loved it. This time we have them in a Sports one. Yes I have the leaders aware of Caramon’s condition. But I figure it should be OK. They are to pull him out if things start getting out of hand. They got TShirts about being on the Lord’s team or whatnot. I had to wash them… LOL They wore them today and want to wear them again tomorrow! They were all excited about the goings on! Today they learned about soccor and something with feet and yadda yadda. They were talking about a mile a minute so I missed a good portion of it. LOL. This week offering is for books so we are going to donate a TON of books. That should be good! HEHE This is my kind of offering these days… woohoo!
So after mum finally got moving and all it was time to pick the boys up. So we went to Heavenly Ham and had divine sandwhiches. MMMMM. And then it was errand time. Best Buy to find out something about mum’s PDA that is weird. Dad gave her this Toshiba Pocket PC for Christmas and for some reason ever since the time change when she hot sync’s the time of her appointments get moved by an hour. Her PC clock is correct. Her Pocket PC clock is correct. But for some reason the darned hot sync is putting her appointments na hour off on the PDA!!! I’ve never heard of such a thing and neither had the people at Best Buy. Doesn’t surprise me. I know I’m a snob but the people at Best Buy aren’t the most knowledgable. I mean they are OK for a lot of things but when you start getting into real technical stuff I just don’t know.
The boys ended up talking us into buying them a Sonic game. Don’t ask why we were feeling so weak. But they were on their best behaviour today so I suppose that’s good.
Then it was off to Target. I wanted to pick up a plastic box to put all those bundled cords in from yesterday. They had one on sale for 3 bucks that I wanted to get. Probably a little too big but I figure I’ll put the small computer speakers in there as well. And there’s this box, I’m not sure what else is in there so other stuff might also end up in that plastic box that relates. Also there was this little two person pop tent on sale with a sleeping bag. One of those kiddie sets. Well it is either get that for camping or Sir M and I are need to find a new tent and give the kids ours or get a HUGE multi room tent to hold all of us. Well this was on sale for 16. We’ve eyed them before. OK, so it isn’t like pro and it won’t go to like -1000 or anything, but for the camping we do it is fine. I don’t camp if it is severely cold or hot. š Mum did buy them a Jackie Chan movie and some Spiderman folders and mechanical pencils. They have run out of pencils again around the house.
So then it was home. I didn’t get a chance to do much because the kids got hurt and so I put in their new game. Which meant I had to fiddle to figure out which way to get two player!!
Then we watched the end of 4400. So now I’m totally up to date. I LOVE IT! ANd then I watched the special on M. Night from last night. What a hoot that was!
And then… it was Clean Sweep time! HEHE

I have to ask
are they doing Son Games 2004 – with the Olympic theme?
Asking because that’s what my church is doing this week (we doing evening vbs around here – I remember vbs being daytime when I was a kid but what I’m remembering is from a church with a bus ministry and I was a bus kid so I think that makes a difference). AND – My mother’s church is doing the same program (I’m Free Methodist – my mother is Disciples of Christ – aka Christian Church).

God’s All-Star Champions
Trying to Win God’s Way is the slogan.
That’s cool! Here they are doing this really cool thing with the armour of God at the same time. So yesterday they learned about soccor and the shoes you need to wear which are the “Shoes of Peace” and the verse was “How beautiful are the feet of those who serve the Lord” and today was bikes and so they learned about helmets… the helmet of salvation. The verse today however was “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” (I think that’s fairly close, I hate paraphrasing the bible but I dont’ have my scriptures with me and Caramon is trying to tell me… at any rate, I’m sure you know which ones I mean, those are fairly common ones.
They do evening VBS at some church’s around here. There’s a church up near Grandpa that is doing the Lava Land (that seems to be the big one out east this year) this week in the evenings. I always did daytime as well, but it seems that several churches are offering evening ones. That’s nice for families where both parents work. You can get volunteers and kids who wouldn’t normally be able to attend.
I’d love to hear about yours!! I love VBS. I went all summer long as a gir. (Lots of church’s here as we are very close to the bible belt)

I want the kids to have their own space, that’s why i bought them a tent. Our tent is just too little for four people. I don’t understand? I think that this tent will do the kids well until we can afford a larger tent. Our current tent we have for camping is in excellent shape, it’s just not big enough. We want to get one of those large two room tents so that we can put the luggage and stuff in one room.

Because our tent is as good as new. LOL. And they DID get a new tent. š Will give us time… like I said I want to get us one of those two room tents so we have a room for all the stuff. Of course then each boy can have their own tent since we’ll have an extra tent… LOL.
We’ve only used our current tent um… oh geeze… 3 or 4 times. Pretty sad, huh? LOL Oh well the boys have a nice new tent. They are so excited. Now if only we can find our camping stuff so we can go camping before summer is over!! LOL
I hate having our stuff in storage!

Re: No they are doing
well everything is olympic themed. The classrooms are decorated like venues. Ours is swimming with stuff from KU’s swimming and diving – the 4th grade teacher (i’m a helper) has friends on the ku swimming and diving team and they helped him decorate the room. The kids think the room is the best – lol. We have the olympic rings. We had a mock lighting of the torch. And there are videos from Christian olympic atheletes that talk about their struggles and how God helped them.
The theme for the first night was Join in. And the lesson was on Paul becoming (or joining in) a Christian. All the lessons are on Paul.
Last night’s theme was team up – and our lesson was on how Paul teamed up with Barnabas and the disciples (aka Jesus’s friends) and how he teamed up with believers in Damascus to get him out of the city.
There is music time. Where they are working on a routine of sorts for a closing cermony on Friday night (you would have loved being with the 5th and 6th graders – they’re doing the flags part of the ceremony and were doing figure eights and stuff with them) our kids are doing cheers and building a pyramid and cartwheels and stuff (pray nobody gets hurt – lol).
They have rec time (and it has been in the 90’s this week. Yesterday was like 98 and we won’t discuss the heat index so the kids get rather worn out). Monday they did extreme soccer – giant beach ball and squirt bottles to get them wet. And yesterday they did all sorts of stuff in pools and the water (they were told to wear swimsuits under their clothes).
Finally we have craft time – they’ve made fun foam visors and little pom pom sports fans. Very cute.

That sounds like fun. I wonder if anyone out here is doing it? What a great idea to merge it with the olympics. I wonder if anyone else forget this was olympics year? I think I have a mental block against the olympics. I mean it is one thing to go live for a day or something to see something. It’s another to watch it on tv for ages. I’m not much of a spectator sport type person though so I know that’s just me…
OOOOH flags… I’d have volunteered and come out (and clean swept) to your house had I known they were doing that. Yes I’m dumb enough to do this…
Yes the heat here has been similiar. Today you could cut the air with a knife. I don’t want to contemplate the heat index/humidity. I heard 110 and then heard them say that was a weatherman and decided it was a good time to turn off the radio and live in denial. Surely it wasn’t that hot… surely not…
Your thing sounds great! I’ll get you the link later for mine. I love it! So many creative ways. I’d have never thought of half this stuff!
