Well we went through almost all the kid books. There’s a couple of shelves left but we have no more paper grocery bags. Unfortunately we don’t have anything else to put books in. I have no idea how many books that is but woohoo! Mum still has a lot of work to go but she’s done so well with her books that I’m proud of her. I won’t tell her, since she’s still got books to look at, and she’s really enjoying the mega purge, but I am very proud of her for what she’s done! She’s done such an amazing job for something that is so so hard to purge. I hope she continues though because she has so many books and she just does not have the room for them all. Plus she really wants to organize them and it is going to be a daunting task and frankly, it will be easier if she continues to purge like this!! But we have 5 bags for the ministry at VBS. Yay! And there’s a bag and a half of adult books, which they aren’t accepting. So we’ll find somewhere else to take those.
All in all, I’m very proud. Mum has gotten rid of so many books. She usually goes on the “She who dies with the most book wins” along with “she who dies with the most fabric” and “she who dies with the most knick knacks.” But I think between Clean Sweep and me and actually working, she’s realizing that “she who dies with the most stuff does NOT win!” I also think the fact that she’s taking care of Granddad and having to go through his stuff, she’s realizing how horrible this is. I think she also does like the ease in getting around now that there aren’t little paths everywhere!!
I have a private goal. I wonder if we will make it. The goal is one row of books per shelf. She’s always had them like double or quad stacked. This is insane. You can’t ever find anything. I don’t know how close we are going to come. It’s very close right now. I’m trying to estimate the books she has in bags in her bedroom. But it definately is very very close right now. If I would hazard a guess I think she needs to get rid of about five or six more shelves worth of books. It’s real hard since she books in so many places.
Good job, mum!

Well I suppose you win if you hate your family because they will have weeks and weeks and weeks of nightmarish sorting and purging!! *GRINS*

LOL… see exactly 🙂
Perfect punishment from a dearly departed who hates their family 😉
The more stuff the more time they will have to spend sorting it and the more they have to spend to pay someone to take care of it… LOL
Just make sure it is worthless stuff so they don’t get any benefits of all that labour 😉

I don’t hate my family.
If my nieces and nephews want any of what I leave behind, a little labour is the least they can do to get it. hehe

LOL… there’s one way to think about it 🙂
make them work to inherit stuff?
I would worry that if I junked up my place like some people do, that no one would care and they’d just back up a dump truck or something… and then *poof* i’d be forgotten

AWW – Oz you will never be forgotten. 🙂 But yeah, I can understand what you’re saying. And now that I think about it that is precisely what will happen to me most likely. They’ll back up a dumpster and shovel it in. hee hee
