Am tired. Been up for 15 minutes. Workers said they’d arrive at 7 so I got up to greet them and let them in. Figured maybe I could doze back off a little after they got here.
Except it is 7:04 and they are not here yet. GRRR. OK peeps. I’m sure you don’t want to be up and alive this early either but come on.
7 AM is not civilized hour to be awake. 7 AM is the middle of the bloody night. If only I could convince the sun and my children of this.
So what the heck… and forget getting any kind of dozing going. Not gonna happen.
In other news today i have to call around for hotels at Kennywood. Caliban27 and his friend are bringing their families to Kennywood and they scored us some free tickets as well. But it is too far away for us to make it in one day so we are going to try to get a hotel room. ^YAWN^ A little too tired to be excited right now, but it does sound fun! I’ll probably end up driving again. Sir Megabyte has had me driving all week. I drove 3/4ths of the trip to and from NJ. I drove him to the park to run yesterday and I drove to get us food on Monday. (Mum’s had me driving as well since we had to get two of her cars worked on.. I feel like a chauffeur…bwahahaha)
Anyway right now unless something changes the plans are to pick up Sir Megabyte at the Pentagon (hopefully with better luck) at about 1:30 tomorrow. Then to head out, hopefully on the more front end of rush “hour” and arrive at Kennywood general area early Friday evening. Grab dinner and a hotel (and hopefully one with sci fi so I can watch Stargate and Atlantis) and chill. Saturday have a blast with the friends at Kennywood. Come home Sunday.
Hotels will be a key part of this issue. Yes we are getting into the park for free, but we still need to pay for gas, food, and lodging. And I figured out that Dragon Con is going to cost us 1000, so EEEK. But we are paying 450 for lodging there. Ouch. And 340 for badges. OUCH! They don’t have a kid rate really and while I could technically get Joram in for free… then he couldn’t go to the kids track or the daycare so I may as well just pay for his badge.
So anyway, with the whole Dragon Con thing… I need to scrimp a little this month. We still haven’t gotten paid for the move claim, though Sir Megabyte did turn it in. Boy that would be nice to have that padding. We have enough money, but I just always get nervous when talking big figures like that.
Especially because in September I would like to escape with just Sir Megabyte for a 10th anniversary type thing. We never really got a honeymoon because he was an E4 and we were broker than broke. Hard to have any kind of a honeymoon when you get paid NOTHING. (Hint hint congress… raise the military pay! These people defend our FREEDOM.) How they expect you to survive on under 1000 a month is beyond me. *SIGH*
And now it is 7:15 and still no people. GRRRRR. Make me wake up at the freaking crack of dawn… these people better be glad i want their work done otherwise they’d get it when they finally show up.

thankfully he got a great job in the civilian world. 🙂 But yeah, my thoughts exactly. How do they expect the men and women who are defending our nation to survive on that? It’s just not a heck of a lot of money! Though when you are single they give you room and board, but even so… you have to share a room with whom they say and you get chow hall food which well is ok considering it is cafeteria food isn’t that great.
But once you get married you need to support a family on that. Some places you get a decent housing allowance, some places you do not. Of course the kicker for the housing allowance if you have to have a lease/mortgage before they give it to you. So you gotta get a place on that and then wait around till you get the money.
