We drove until about 10 miles from SC last night. We stopped then, finding a hotel. Arising early in the morning, we finished the journey to Atlanta for DragonCon. By 1:30, we completed checking into our hotel and wore our hot off the presses badges.

The first thing we did following that? Found Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman signing books in the book signing room over at the Marriott. In we went with two excited little boys. (We will not even discuss ourselves!) Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman gladly signed books for both boys. The two loved the fact we named our children after their characters! We told the authors about Caramon’s illness. They liked how we thought the name fit well since Caramon proved to be a brave fighter like his namesake. We found out survivorship is something Caramon shares with Margaret Weis. We gave them, and Laura Hickman, ribbons for Pediatric Cancer. They put them on and requested visits from the children in their costumes since we had not changed yet. We promised to stop by with the boys in costume.

From there we split off into different directions just about to enjoy the fun of the con. I went to see Anne McCaffrey speak. The first time I read Anne McCaffrey, I was in 7th Grade English. I do not know how I got so lucky, but lucky I got! After reading that short story, I came home and simply devoured my mother’s Anne books. Anne has definitely been on my favourite list the longest of anyone! She is simply wonderful to see in person and a delight to ask questions. I must admit I was a little star struck for probably the first time in my life. I did get to ask her a question, which delighted me!

We did catch up with Brycen and Tauzero and had a lot of fun at different panels and the like. The boys enjoyed the daycare they con had. Mostly today, all they wanted to do? Wear their costumes! We held them off, though. When they learned they could wear their costumes all day Saturday and Sunday, they cheered up.
