I’m frustrated galore (and tired) now.

OK, we had determined that it must only be the mobo that is fouled up in the computer I’m attempting to build for my FIL. So I rang up and after talking to the moron at tech help in order to get a return voucher who tried to claim it was my hard drive even though I didn’t even have the hard drive plugged in… any way, they sent me a new case/power/mobo combo.

Yesterday I get home from errands and sure enough, UPS Ditch and Run had come. We haul in the new box and my dad goes “When did that arrive?” We’re like “Um… dunno… it was a ditch and run apparently.” He said he’d been here and hadn’t even HEARD the knock…

So this time he sat with me and we poured over everything. We checked, double checked, and triple checked each and ever jumper, plug, and everything else. We went so painstakingly slow.

End result?

Same. As. Before.

I kid you not. No beeps. (We added a speaker this time.) No posting. Won’t engage the video. We not only pulled apart one, but two working computers to try swapping parts out.

Best we can come up with?

Two bad mobo’s in a row.

Or there’s some hidden switch on the back of the mobo tormenting us… HAHA.

ANY ideas?

I’m now thinking of returning both and buying a different case and mobo. This is insane.

I’m only partly happy with the case. The power supply partially blocks the heatsink. Hello, airflow? Since I’m a freak I was going to get wrapped cables and etc to help with airflow anyway, but still!

At 2 AM I went to bed leaving my father still mucking with things. He told my mum at time unknown he hasn’t a clue. *SIGH*

Though I did have a dream that since this mobo and etc suck I decided to just return the suckers and did a tripped out mod. My father-in-law is a fireman and a truck driver for a hospital. His office where the computer will be is Americana/fireman themed. (He’s a fireman in NJ so he was really touched by the whole firemen in NY thing.) So I dreamt I made him a really super cool matched his room computer. Hehehe… Yeah like he needs uber mod… but I dreamt it was so cool and he went gonzo over it. *SIGH* If only.

LOL… I’ve been watching The Screen Savers too long, eh?

Once more… ANY IDEAS at ALL no matter how stupid, redundant, or “duuuuuh!” sounding you think they are.. PLEASE… I would love to hear them.
