I have major thanks to the friend who loaned my Firefly on DVD. I will buy it… at some point… I swear.

But wow. The episodes that never aired? Wow. And to see them in such a proper order is great.

I’m still sad this show didn’t make it. It was so excellent. I loved it. I think because it seemed so much more real to me. If we ever get off our lazy arses? We aren’t going to start off being this Star Trek TNG utopian society. We are going to have people in rugged, wild west like places. It’s going to be hard, it’s going to be crazy, and we just aren’t going to get things right. It was also nice to see it from the “little man” side of things. The crew of Serenity was just average people trying to survive. They sometimes cut corners and did things less than honorably. But they weren’t bad people.

I look forward to the movie even more now. If only it hadn’t gotten postponed to September. It needs to air now!!! I also hope that there are more movies to come.

The other thing I like about Firefly is they actually got a good mix of tech. Sure we have spaceships and this is in the “future” but they kept it so that the lower tech things also seemed to mesh well. The way the sets are, the places, the characters, the plots. They meshed well. Unfortunately this is not how Cyborgs Attack is. There is no meshing of low and high tech there. Perhaps they should have asked for Joss’s help? I’m not so sure even that would help Cyborgs Attack though.

Anyway… verdict of Firefly DVDs. Top Notch show. Watch it so you can be reminded how Fox is a bunch of MORONS. The DVD has some great special features. It’s awesome to see the unaired episodes which are very cool. And then buy tickets to Serenty this September. It’s gonna rule! Then cry that there isn’t going to be any real sci fi of this nature on network TV this fall because UPN proved there is someone stupider than Fox. Everyone pray The WB comes through.

How sad it is that if you want sci fi on network tv you are tuning in to The WB.

Oh… and this means that I get to start Wonderfalls! WOOHOO. Expect more “Fox is a bunch of MORONS” to come. πŸ™‚

Oh and for anyone who cares, I’m moving along in DaVinci Code. There’s 13 discs. I’m on disc 8. It’s excellent!!! (If you’ve read it then I’m at the part where Silas is sneaking into the castle to try to find out where Robert and Sophie have hidden the keystone. Meanwhile Sophie has just learned about the Holy Grail. Meanwhile the french authorities are closing in. Hopefully that lets you know where I am without giving away too much.)
