This just in, Sci-Fi has put the entire pilot episode, “33”, of Cyborgs Attack on their website that you can stream and watch. Commercial free and complete with unaired scenes. Very cool move for a tv channel to realize the internet use of snagging tv shows is hot AND useful. My only question is, why did they choose to do this with Cyborgs Attack and not one of their better shows? Can we say “Streaming Farscape”?

I think I can answer that quick enough. There are several reasons. If they did this with either Stargate series or Farscape they know the servers would crash in a heartbeat. Too many people would jump on to view great tv “on demand”. These shows are hot hot hot and for good reasons. They are well written, well acted, well shot, and have superb special effects. A decent looking cast doesn’t hurt them either. Another reason is, they know these shows had dedicated followings and were popular.

I believe Cyborgs Attack got this honour because it is a lousy show so SciFi figured the servers wouldn’t completely die ALA Farscape cancellation bruhahaha. Boy THAT was fun, wasn’t it fellow ‘Scapers? Yeah. Wishing we could do that to UPN right about now. I also believe that it is an act of desperation hoping that perhaps they can pick up a few new viewers to make the newly announced season 2 worthwhile financially. Seriously, are they making a dime on this lousy show? I know a ton of people are tuning in and watching Cyborgs Attack in true old school MST3K style, but that shouldn’t count for anything.

Of course the unfortunate news is that since Cyborgs Attack got renewed for a season 2, there’s absolutely no way that SciFi could ever swing a major marketing coup and snatch up Enterprise. I know that’s what fans are hoping. Of course there are legal issues they probably aren’t contemplating like the fact that UPN has a stranglehold over Star Trek and I think short of sacrificing a virgin or a first born son… UPN is not going to part with the Star Trek franchise they have murdered. It could happen, but I’m thinking that the show’s contract is iron clad between UPN and Star Trek (read the Widow and Lackeys). But with a renewal of Cyborgs, there is absolutely no way that I can see for SciFi to even be able to come close to affording Star Trek should UPN be willing to let it pass on to others without the aforementioned sacrifical virgin and first borns.

Which leads me to another point. I’d like to thank the Enterprise people for explaining the smooth-headed Klingons in such a great way. I’m still pissed at you guys for murdering Star Trek and forcing my children to grow up in a world of darkness that has become gloomier in this post 9-11 war-torn world with no hope of a brighter tomorrow with new Star Trek. You guys deserve to be publically flogged naked in Antartica where your privates will get frostbite as you are flogged. However, I am grateful you at least did SOMETHING decent by giving us this answer. It was alluded to in DS9 that the smooth headed Klingons were NOT one of the Klingon Empire’s brighter moments. And now we know what happened. And I thought it was great.

Leaves me with one question. With this show getting better and better each episode, why the heck did you murder it? Seriously… you have a date in Antartica. Meet the tv crews there for your flogging. Don’t bother to pack as your clothes will be stripped from your backs. May you rot in TV Exec Hades along with the moron who decided to “reinvent” Battlestar Galactica. And the person who brought us Quizno’s commercials.

Oh, for anyone who would like the link to watch 33 and mock mock mock the show, or just check it out, here’s the link to the streaming Realplayer media on SciFi’s website: “33” Enjoy! I know I have. Hey, at least I have something to rant on about every Saturday, thanks to Cyborgs Attack!

SciFi — Kudos on the use of the net. Excellent idea. Next time could you choose a better show?
