It all started at 6:30 AM. We woke up and fed the boys and everyone got dressed. By 7 we were at a local church for a district pinewood derby. The boys cars did fairly well. Sir M and i were fairly tired, but that’s to be expected. Kids had plenty of energy though!
Their cars did rather well. Of their pack, Joram came in first, Caramon second. Overall though Joram was 15 and Caramon was 18. Not bad, there were 26 cars racing.
We came home after that and got some directions. Then it was off to Woodbridge for an event sponsered by the Richmond Science Museum. There is a museum being built in Woodbridge, they are hoping to be complete in two years. There were science experiemnts for kids, ice cream with all the fixings, and even a painting pig and a fencing instructor! Both boys got to try to fence. they were so cute!
We wanted to run to a store in Fairfax after that so we hit 95. Little did we know that five miles later the entire interstate was shut down. what a nightmare. we finally made it to springfield (about 10 miles) about two, two and a half hours later. We decided to forget Fairfax. We popped into a camera store Sir M found one day and it was great. They sell all sorts of Olympus stuff and gave me a great recomend for a flash for my Olympus. Unfortunately, they were closing ten minutes after we got there. So I didn’t get to look around more. I’m going to have to go back up there soon.
We went to the mall next. Grabbed some supper and walked around. There was a great anime store there and we picked up a video and some pocky. Mmmm yum!
We finally rolled in around 9:30! Whew! Long day!

off topic question
okay – what would I be looking for in a high speed usb 2.0 port or port adapter for my laptop (toshiba satelite 2410-s205 – hah I checked last night). I’ve got a couple of things that would run better if they had a high speed port – including (dum dum dum) my new shiney blue ipod mini that has arrived. minipod works – just takes longer and such. But it sort of spurred me to thinking.
and I’ve never actually worked on my own computer so I don’t know where to begin, what to look for and such.
helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllp.
thanks!!

do you not have USB on your laptop already? If so just get a USB hub that sits off one of your USB’s already. Like this: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000658CH/qid=1111587026/sr=8-5/ref=pd_csp_5/104-9338087-3808756?v=glance&s=electronics&n=507846
Otherwise you’ll need one of those PCMCIA cards. I hate changing out my PCMCIA cards though since that’s where my wireless comes from. Oh to have built in wireless… LOL
Hope this helps.
BTW Enjoy the ipod mini, my FIL’s is wicked cool 🙂

Re: off topic question
actuallllllly
no – I need a cardbus adapter to due usb 2.0 highspeed. I HAVE usb ports. Not looking for an extension/multy port hub. Looking specifically for HIGH SPEED 2.0 – and the link you provided for linksys isn’t highspeed by the way.
at this point a – my laptop crashed and i’m having to reinstall everything.
b – ipod was connecting/charging but isn’t connecting now – ie itunes doesn’t show an ipod connected even though I’ve tried it everywhere.
c – the usb2.0 highspped adapter is a pita instruction wise and its control panel isn’t showing ANYTHING connected to it even though things ARE connected to it (and functioning – wtf).
d – I’ve tried doing the instructions for the reset on the ipod and its just starng at me like i’m a freakinng idiot. book says to go through itunes to do a reset – uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh great – but itunes doesn’t think ipod is freaking connected.
e – I’d put the whole pile of computer equipment, ipod etc n the trash if I didn’t have so much freaking money invested in it – and oh yeah I got free personalization on the ipod – but you can’t return those.
I’m just about in tears here and past my wits end. If i post about this on the board – I’ll get half the board telling me what to do and that’ll just frustrate me even more (gives me complex – makes me feel like a freaking twit – and I hate feeling that way).

Dang, that sux. I’ll hit my stores and see if I can find the adapter you need, though the kids are on spring break so I can’t promise that in a super quick timely fashion.
As for your computer woes… I’m not even sure what the heck it’s doing besides having a nervous breakdown and causing you to have one as well.
I wish I could come muck around with it. Sometimes that second set of eyes finds the big flaming “DUH” button to push. Cause I swear it always ends up being a big giant huge obvious thing and you look at it 45 times and just never see it.
How are things going today?
(BTW sorry I am only just getting back to you… it’s hubbies birthday and I’ve been busy doing stuff with him and the kidlets all weekend for that and Easter)
