The movie parade continues.

We just watched Bend it Like Bekham and it was great. This is about an Indian girl living in the UK who wants to play football. (That’s soccor for all you yanks.) Her fundamental parents just want her to find a nice boy, settle down, learn to cook traditional Indian meals, and become a traditional Indian girl. When she meets up with a young blonde british gal who plays soccer and talks her into coming out, much mayhem ensues. It’s hillarious at times but it is also a serious look at letting your children be their own people. We can’t force our dreams and ideals onto our children. We can teach them and raise them well and hope they will do right by the world.

The movie has a little bit of romance, a lot of seriousness, a tale of courage in oneself, and of course lots of sports. I highly recommend it! Especially if you like the sport.
