I live in land of the frozen, Ohio. Why the heck can they not plow the roads? What is the story? Sheesh. This is just dumb beyond belief! Seriously! I mean really really dumb!
OK, first of all the view out my front door. As you can see, the skies are grey as anything and the road is a mess. Now most of this fell on Friday. Not too much fell last night. Yet this is how our road looks? Crazy. Supposedly we are on their map this year. But I have yet to see a plow. This is about 11:45 AM.
So then this is the MAIN state highway by my house. Why is the middle not clear? Why on earth does it look like the only reason you can see any road is because of where people have driven? This is nuts. And up ahead is the beltway. Now once I cross into the beltway I’m techincally in another city.

Now this is what I’m talking about. Even the middle is clear. And you can tell they actually plowed! WOOHOO. Thank you. Hey Mr Plow over there, want to go take care of my street? In the “big city”??? Sheesh.
The differance a quarter of a mile makes. You go from “We don’t care” to “We care”. So sad. Of course the thing that cracks me up most is that people here go “It really doesn’t snow that often here!” I’ve seen this much snow at least once a year (and usually very much on the multiple side) since we moved here. I mean, it is Ohio. Nine months of winter, three months of bad hockey! It doesn’t snow that much here? DC is further south than here and awfully coastal and they get snow and they take care of it!
Now, by three hours later, here’s the road just south of my house pulling up to my neighbourhood. When I left it was pretty much just like the road going north. Not cleared and lots of stuff in the middle and you could tell there had been no plowing. But there was enough traffic and MAYBE a plow since then and this is what it looks like. About time.
The thing that really baffles me is the snow fell last night before our kids even went to bed. By the time they went to bed it was well and over with. Soooo, why weren’t the plows already out last night? Heck, why weren’t the plows out on Saturday? We drove around on Saturday and they had not plowed at all. And we had a LOT more snow on Friday than on Sunday.
This place is WEIRD.
