I put off going all day. Now i know why. I hate Wal-mart.
First off I can’t find the freaking tops to the totes I want. Plus the other totes had plenty of tops way high up. The kids had to go to the bathroom, no associate was around, so I figure I’ll go to the lay-away and let them go to the potty while asking an associate there to page me an associate for help and check the back for these one tops.
Wait wait wait. Three associates ask me if I’m being helped yet none of them help me and none help me or get someone to help me. Finally someone does come up and gives me this look like “Uh…. errr….” and finally paged someone to the tote section. So I go back and wait. And wait. Finally an associate walks by so we grab him. He once more pages someone. Well that guy comes and looks all over the tote section for the small tote lids. Nope. Big surprise. Told him I did that. He called a manager. The manager said “Did you check the back?” “Yes.” (No he did not.)
Finally I decided to just get one of a different type that I only halfway like. It does not match. And it holds 8 qt less and was twice the price. Same brand though. Whatever. *SIGH* Instead of buying three, I only got one. It will be for the closet with all our wintery stuff. Mittens and that. Hopefully this one will work well.
So then I go and stand in line. Of course the line is taking forever. The person at hte front is on her cell phone discussing goodness knows what. Now I can go through and just pay and leave. But she apparently had to discuss something. So we stood there for over five minutes. FIne, I have under 20 items so I’ll go to the “speedy checkout”. Oh no, the two women in front of me are doing the “I’m going through the 20 and under line with 60 items and having it go through as three orders.” Well not to mention they had to price check everything. And then the last batch of stuff the woman had half the stuff removed. Then put back in. Then removed. *SIGH*
I hate Wal-mart. it wasn’t even crowded and it still took me over 30 minutes to check out. Why? Why????????
All in all… took me over 2 hours. *SIGH*

I hate Walmart too. For the same reasons you do, as well as for the fact that EVERYTIME I have EVER gone into ANY Walmart, the aisles have been over crowded with stuff and people. It feels so chaotic and disorganized. And then IF I finally find whatever it is I came in there for I have to wait like a half an hour to get out. No kidding. My husband and I bought a bike for our son and we waited our half hour in line (as usual) and laughed and laughed with the other people we were in line with (cuz you know we were in the “express”line). Express? ha! Soooooo… I now only go to Walmart if I HAVE to. I much prefer Target. While the prices are sometimes a tiny bit higher, ALL of the Targets I have been to have been clean, organized, and have had what I needed. The aisles are wider and have more room for the people to shop. I felt less stressed and actually (imagine this) ENJOYED myself. That is what makes for repeat customers. Walmart has lost one to Target. They need to reevaluate the way they due business. They are heading the route of Kmart. Before Kmart filed for bankruptcy protection, many of their stores were looking like Walmart does now. Kmart closed a lot of their unprofitable stores before coming out of bankruptcy protection. I will be interested in seeing how Walmart fares over the next decade.

You know, it has just been the walmarts here in columbus that have given me problems. Well with the exception of the one in Yuma Things were backwards there. We all shopped at the Super Kmart which was all bright and clean and had wide aisles and stuff. And it had the grocery. It was one of hte largest Kmarts. Cheerful and helpful employees. Great place. Walmart? Like your typical Kmart everywhere else. Filthy, tiny aisles you can’t even get a cart through, bad lighting. It was bizarre. The only people who shopped there were the snowbirds and the “mexicans”. (I say that in quotes because I saw a lot of well groomed, well educated mexican individuals at the K-mart. But it seemed the stereotypical mexicans people assume all mexicans are like were the ones who shopped at Walmart It was a border town so we had a lot of border crossing)
But I agree, Kmart was infamous in the last decade or so of having horrible associates. and frankly, from what I’m seeing Walmart is heading that way. I mean even the manager wasn’t much help! But I swear hear they hire the stupidest people they can find. Not only that, they are slow and rude. But to be honest, most stores are like this around here. Wal-mart just happens to be the worst. I don’t know if it is a nationwide epidimic of people not caring about their job or what.
I’m going to go check Target for totes if I need to find some of that smaller size. I don’t know if they carry the same ones or not. But I’m fed up with Walmart. They don’t price anything, they put everything high up with no way to get it and their associates are idiots. And quite frankly, seeing some of the people in the line? The shoppers aren’t that great either.
The only sad thing? This is the “ghetto” wal-mart. And it is nicer and more helpful than the really “nice” one we used to go to before we across town. I mean I was trying to find something and the associates all had no idea and were scratching their heads like chimps and finally said “Um, try stationary, but I don’t know where that is.” How do you not know where stationary is? *SIGH*
Anyway… end wal-mart is evil rant. I have a feelign I’m going to be more and more a target shopper. I’m not used to having a target close by so I keep forgetting to go there first.
