You have to have something that plays ogg vorbis files
And for some reason the classic stuff does not play it. (WMP/Real) I myself can’t listen to it… I was just trying it out. hopefully someone will transcribe it. 🙂

winamp plays them. i think phone posts are the only reason i have winamp, heh heh. there is a link to it beside the phone post, it’s a question mark.

hmmm i have a small hard drive on my laptop and don’t want to junk it up with winamp. I never use it. Why bother when I have programs that will read mp3 and cd? But it would be nice to be able to hear those ogg vorbis files. 🙂

Re: 30 gigs!!!
Laptops are good. My husband tends to steal my desktop (it has been weird having it completely at my access the last month) so we agreed that I should buy a laptop. Thankfully we jumped on it because then he changed jobs and no longer has a laptop. He did have one and it was slow but at least I could surf the web and LJ and stuff even though I could not work or do anything else… but he was tired of bringing it home and figured that if I wanted to work I should have my own. Plus I want to go back to college (but ouch expense) and I really need a portable sys… so anyway… I now have a desktop and a laptop. Though once we move back in together I’ll only have a desktop on weekDAYS. 🙂
But I do graphics and web design and stuff… so I like having space. 🙂

that makes wonderful sense. i really like the portability of laptops (rofl) i like being able to jump and run with it. but, i, too, will appreciate the space of a desktop someday. when i had one, i felt bolted to the ground, so this is better at the moment. though i like some neat-o pc carts with casters on it. we are big on mobility in my house. lots of wheels to move things around.

HEHE I like mobility too. Nothing like taking this thing to bed and watching Friends on DVD up there. 🙂 HEHE
To top off mobility issues? I have wireless here. Bring your laptop… you can jack in. SNERK.
I definately like mobility now a lot. So spoiled. I hardly get on my desktop.. though I do need to load some stuff on it so I can maximize my work power. 🙂 HEHE. Plus on the road I can still have access to my computer. WOOT.
But having the desktop is nice. 🙂 I use it for burning DVDs and the like. I need to fish out my power apps like Dreamweaver/Fireworks and movie makers and stuff. 🙂 Stuff I fear putting on my laptop. ROFL Just not enough space. 🙂 But like I have I dunno 2 gigs worth of photos? LOL

holy crow! thats quite a few photos. i would have a desk with pc, etc, but we have space issues. the major areas of our home are already occupied. hm. so, while this laptop *feels* temporary, i have been with the setup the same for years. ooo, your network sounds soo nice!!! i want to hook mine and his pc up, so we can share either internet connection. say the sat is down due to weather, we can share dial up. like i say, ignorance is the only barrier. i have been told that this wouldnt be hard, but i don’t live near a best buy, etc, to purchase equipment. *sigh*

I have a digi cam. 🙂
If we were closer to you I’d send hubby out to hook you up with a groovy network. Ours goes through the telephone jacks and is fully customizable. You can have either phone or lan. 🙂 You set it all up at one place. HEHE It’s really cool.
It’s not very hard. And you can 😉 Order the equipment ONLINE. 🙂 BestBuy.com HEHE All you need is a router. I would recommend going ahead and getting a wireless router. Then you set the modem into the wall. Then the modem into the router. A wireless router generally has a few “wire” connectors so you can plug anything you need in that way… or you can purchase wireless cards… 🙂
I got my stuff at http://www.microcenter.com LOL

Re: 30 gigs!!!
HEHE.. we have two. Our computers outnumber our people. LOL I mean right before DH changed jobs we had five computers, 2 laptops, 2 pdas of which his was able to use the internet. (Mine’s lame so it can’t do that) He had to give his laptop back to the company he left and we gave one computer away. But anyway… our wireless router I got with my laptop (what a deal!) it only has 3 jacks… so we have our old router daisy chained into the wireless.
The other benefit of a router is… FIREWALL. 🙂 Built in. WOOT. Anyway, start saving the dollars and get yourself a router. *GRINS* You can also do it with a hub which is cheaper… but not as nice. No firewall and everyone does not get their own IP address.

yeah… computers are a pain in the arse that way. As soon as you get one it is out of date. I recommend buying a bare bones and then gutting your crappiest system for the parts like cd and etc. 🙂
That and you can get good deals at Thanksgiving for Black Friday. My laptop was only like 600 bucks. A friend bought a desktop for only 400!
