Apparently I didn’t realize it but between Saturday and today I gained a 3 ton paperweight. It’s known as my gold 1999 Ford Taurus.
Somehow, even though my car has all these nifty little features that keep the battery from dying… the battery died. And by died I mean dead as a doornail. As in I try to turn the car on it does not even contemplate maybe possibly trying to turn over. A whole fat lot of nothing happens. the doors won’t even farking lock/unlock. Thank goodness I kept it in the garage where I don’t lock the car doors!! My golly! That would have been scary!
So I am trying to figure out why my car won’t do ANYTHING. Did I trip the alarm somehow? What happened? I’ve never had a battery die so completely it does not even attempt to turn over. What’s up with that? So I see my neighbour two doors up is home. Knock knock knock. He comes over “Nope your battery is dead.” Hey they put a little window with a light on those things now. I know my first two cars definately did not have THAT feature. I know my first car I thought the battery was dead but it turned out it was just gunky or something. But there was no light on it at all. And it did try to turn over just failed and sounded sickly.
So we push the car out onto the street in front of my house so we can access the blooming thing. That was an adventure. Thank goodness the Elders walk by at that moment because guess what? The brakes and steering on a taurus suck. I mean the brakes are good normally but I knew the steering sucked before. Well without power assist… yeah brick on wheels are better than 3 ton paperweight on wheels.
So out comes the battery and we hop into neighbour’s truck and head to autozone. Thank goodness that is nearby! They plug up my battery to some tester doohickey and there’s not even 12 volts in the sucker. The guy was like “Wow, this is the deadest battery I’ve ever seen! What year is this car?” “1999.” “Hmmm” Well now they are charging so they can determine if it is battery error or if there is something way worse with my car. (It’s a Ford, anyone else leaning toward it must be something mega bucks to fix?) That takes an hour… so off we go towards home with some parts my neighbour needed for his car. I suppose I’ll go back after Joram leaves for school and find out what the fark is wrong with my battery. And buy a new one since I suppose I must. *GRRRR*
Cars are crappy man. HAHA I knew I should have just stayed in VA. At least then I could have swiped mum’s car and still done all my visiting and stuff. HAHA (Hey my parents have three cars and there’s only two of them! They could spare one for a day or two!)
Well thank goodness for my neighbour. I’d be lost without him. I’d have killed myself trying to get that battery out and schlepping it on foot to autozone. Saying weak me could get the battery out to begin with. I know how to check my oil and how to jump a car and that’s about it. For any kind of service it’s called drive or tow the car to someone who knows what to do!

Couldn’t you have manually unlocked them? Ack. Sucks that that happened!
