Do I even need to say it? Awesome! Definately told a difference with Chris Columbus doing this flick. But I like the new Dumbledore, I think he’s doing OK. Especially since it isn’t till around now that he started playing any kind of role anyway… and Emma as Trelawney? Perfect! The effects were great, especially for the shape shifting. And wow on the Dementors! Anyway, we really enjoyed it.
I see a name has been released for the next book. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. That’s all that’s released. Argh. As for movies IMDB says that Goblet will come out next year. But Phoenix isn’t coming out until 2007!! AUGHHH. And then Half Blood Prince will be out in 2008.
The only complaint I have comes now that I’ve said that. They are taking too long. The kids are supposed to be 13. They look 17. Of course Hermoine’s actress is only 14… wow. But Ron’s actor is 17. Geeze… You could REALLY tell the differance this movie. It kind of stinks. It is only supposed to be like three months and yet you can see a whole lot more. I definately think the biggest change was in Nevile Longbottom. My friend, Stephanie, told me that she thought this and when he popped on the screen, WOW. BIG differance!
We walked the mall afterwords. Talked about the movie. Gosh Snape was awesome! And they didn’t have his hair looking as greasy this time. Just had to share with VC since I know how she lovers her Snapey-poo.
We ended up going into Books a Million. Big mistake? Or big yay? Depends on how you look at it. We got about 165 dollars in book for 95. Didn’t plan on spending that much. Oh well. We also got this head massager doohickey. Wow it felt so neat. On the far end of the mall get this, they have a massage place!! We decided we were tired so we were looking at it and decided that would feel great so we sprung for two 10 minute massages. HEHE
It was an all day thing… but it was cool. I forgot how big the Mills was!
In other news, Charmed premiere date is up. No spoilers but looks like we have a return of Barbas! And in other news a certain actor has been scheduled for 7 episode arc playing a new interest for Pheebs! π Can’t be daddy though since the boys aren’t near as old as they were in her vision… hehe… The titles that have een released thus far look VERY interesting.
Now I’m watching Tremors 4… hehe the beginning… guess it wasn’t MixMaster! LOL… Love it though, Barbas just got eaten by a big worm!

I have to agree with you on everything you said about Harry Potter!! I loved that movie as well, though I couldn’t remember If that was how they ended the book, so had to re-read it the following week to get my time lines right!!
I love, love, love Alan Jackman (Snape). He is a great actor, and I can remember his roles and at least three lines in every movie that I see with him In It, that to me makes a great actor/actress.. infliction on the brain!
I heard the same thing for the title of the next book?? All I got from the official JK.Rowling web site were the initials HBP, so it makes sense.. I would just like to know if it is for sure!!

Well Amazon and IMDB have it listed!!
So I’m assuming it is right.
And I think you mean Alan Rickman. I think you crossed him with Hugh Jackman (Van Helsing, Wolverine, and about fifty other people). Interesting cross… hehe

I think JKR made a little fun of the movies in book 5 – it being the first book since the first movies came out.
I had been thinking of this just before I read it – that the kids (in the movies) do pretty much all their growining in the scant few months between school years! It’s like they grow nearly a year’s worth in two to three months? π
Well, when Harry first saw Ron in OoP (after only being away as a month less than the summer anyway), he thought Ron had grown an incredibly amount in a short period of time. I think that’s an allusion. π

hopefully It won’t be delayed by her being pregnant. That was why it was on hold to begin with (her bab is just one years old now), so I hope her current pregnancy doesn’t make her ill or anything!!

Now I”m wondering what you saw that was making fun of the movies. I must have missed that, or I forgot what with the YEAR it has been since that book came out!! Hello, get this stuff out!! LOL.
As for Ron growing, that is about the time of a big growth spurt so I guess I didn’t notice it… I tell you what, the first two was a change but between 2 and 3 OMG!!!

The books and movies are excellent! Sir Megabyte and I were discussing this though. We don’t understand why it is taking so long for the movies to come out. I mean at the point the first movie came out there were four books, so it wasn’t like they were waiting for the next book. The screenwriter could have been adapting right in a row. And I understand that the people would want breaks, that’s cool and all, but they are taking a heck of a lot more than a few weeks. This is evident by how much these kids have grown. This isn’t like they have adults so it doesn’t matter as much like say… Star Trek. When you have people who are changing… they need to do something a little speedier.
Yes it takes a while to make a movie.. I mean you listen to the commentary or watch these specials and they say they film in like three or so months and then there’s another three or so months for production. Well why aren’t they just running with it? Film the first, take a month or two off for vacay while it gets sent to post production. Then start shooting film two. By the time you are done, hopefully post production is done and had a month or two off. I mean this is like what they are doing with Lord of the Rings.
But look, Goblet of Fire comes out sometime next year. But then two years for Order? I mean that’s already out, they aren’t waiting for the book to be done or anything. It just makes no sense.
Ron’s the worst though, he really does not look 13 in this movie. And we won’t even get into how Neville apparently went to fat camp AND was put on the rack. I swear that kid looks like a completely different person in this movie!!! He was kind of pudgy and short and now he’s tall and lean!! I love Neville’s character… poor chap!
Of course my real impatience is just explained away with this rant… it all just boils down to I don’t wanna wait. ROFL π

OMG that was an AWESOME scene! I loved it. I was totally like “Dramatic much?” That ruled. Snape is awesome! I was kind of disappointed though because he hardly got any screen time. I was expecting more Harry/Snape snarls… I love their relationship!

wow, a big comment! i like it! lol…anyways, yeah i agree with everything…but the 5th book is a pretty long bok, so i’m sure they need time after the 4th movie to have it go down, and find some characters a nd stuff, but i agree…2 years, wow…lol..but yeah, they deffinatley need to hurry it up…maybe we should write a letter! lol…

I’m kind of worried about the next two.. those books had SOOOOO much happening in them. I really think they could have been a total of four books. Seriously. I have no clue how they are going to do the freaking movies!! I guess we’ll be having three hour long ones… oh well, that’s three hours I can get behind! GRINS

Hehe… Heck, if they want to break it up into two.. that would even work for me. Do like Harry Potter: The Quidditch World Cup and then Harry Potter: The Goblet of Fire… hehe But then again, had I been the writer that’s how I would have broken up the books. That’s just me.

Yes, Harry/Snape is an interesting relationship! I love seeing it develop.
I’ve read, interestingly, that JKR has given Alan Rickman a bit more info as to his character in future books, so he must be playing Snape with more info in mind. I just find that very interesting.

I hope they give Harry/SNape more screentime next movie. *SIGH*
Really, I didn’t know that JKR was doing this. I figured he’s probably read all the books and is playing thusly but I always wondered if she gave the actors/actresses a few more clues so they would act accordingly.
I did notice Snape didn’t seem as almost evil this time around as he has in the past movies. It was like AR toned him down a bit. Still had that “Grrr I hate Potter” but you know how in the first one you are like “Is he evil? I swear he might not be Valdemort but he is surely evil because he wants to kill Harry or something.” It carried very much into the second one. But this time while the animosity was there… it just didn’t seem as black I guess.

Re: So do I!
Yeah, I enjoy his animosity towards Harry hehe – but yes, it wasn’t as prominent in PoA movie. In fact he was overtly protective of the trio – which wasn’t exactly in the book – the Shrieking shack sequence with werewolf. So that’s interesting, especially in light of JKR saying that Curon unwittingly put clues in to bk 6 and 7. She said it gave her goosebumps. So has it something to do with Snape. Who knows.
I know, that’s why I find his character interesting – we aren’t sure where he stands. This dark figure with the dark past. eeeeep So fascinating! Oh dear I could go on and on and on… π
Oh and as far as I know, only AR has inside info which he will not divulge although many interviewers have tried.

Re: So do I!
I agree, in this one he was more protective. OK, technically he was protective before like in number one where he was chanting to keep Harry safe during that Quidditch match. However it was a totally different feel to the protective this time.
Curon unwittingly put clues in book six and seven?? More depth!!!
Yay more Snape! I really do like chaotic characters so I hope we see more Snape. The chaotic characters, if done well, are just more interesting. Probably because you just never quite know what to expect from them. I mean when you have true good or evil characters you kind of know what to expect from them. But the chaotic characters always keep you guessing. And well Snape is the epitome of chaotic good. LOL. Though I think he’s really just good deep down, he has lot of pain and aguish towards the Potters and that’s why he seems so chaotic.
*SIGH* AR just rules. He rocks in everything I’ve seen him in. In a way I’m glad he’s being tightlipped. Good integrity. On the other I’d love to get him in my clutches and try to get him to spill!
OK JK.. enough of this… start churning these books out so we can find out what’s up with everything!!!

Re: So do I!
Well, somewhere in the movie Curon took liberty w/ books. However, by doing so he foreshadowed the next books. JKR noticed, of course, and said it gave her goosebumps. She didn’t tell him to take out the scenes, though. She laughed that readers will suspect that the two of them were in cahoots. Curon commented that it just made sense to him as a natural progression to the story (whatever *it* was – still much debate) Some say it has something to do with Lupin and Lilly – to me that is too obvious. I say it’s about Snape as protector of the children. π It has to be something that isn’t in PoA but is in the movie.
~
Yes, AR is the soul of integrity. He said he’d never dream of spoiling it for the children. Also, I’d think he’s under some legal contract.
There was an interesting paper presented at a HP con about Snape as Byronic hero. Very good and convincing. I’m trying to find it again.
I look forward to the next books, yet I hate to see it end, especially when there are all kinds of theories that Snape probably won’t make it. I will be very very very sad if this comes true.
