I hope you enjoyed learning how to do this on Ancestry! I have found that by utilizing multiple websites, I can discover various interesting facts about my family tree. Ancestry costs money for many users however, and that’s not conducive to most. Family Search is free and you can access it at any LDS Family History Center if you are out and about.
Family Search
Log into Family Search and go to your family tree. From there, find the individual desired and choose “Person”.
You should find yourself on the Details page. There are tabs and you want to select “Memories”. You can add audio, stories, photos, and documents on this page. Since this is a story from an interview, you want to press the plus sign under “Stories” that says “ADD”.
A new page comes up with a Polaroid stating “Create New Story”. Give your story a title, add a photo, and fill in the story text box. Again, I just pasted the story in.
Once you have completed and saved it, you are taken to another page at which time you can also add people. This is not quite as intuitive as at Ancestry. I recommend finding those individuals and their Family Search ID numbers before reaching this step. You type their name into the “Who’s in this story” field and from there you have to attach them from your family tree which is where that ID number comes into play.
The whole process is fairly simple and now you have all of this information saved! Your children and on down will thank you for bringing their ancestors to life.
Would you like to know something for next week? Do you use a different service that needs a tutorial? Feel free to comment and let me know!
