This just in… Farscape is being revived for a 4 hour miniseries next year! YAY! WOOHOOO! Ok, four hours is not enough… but at least it is 4 more hours than we had!!! Yeah baby! Long live Farscape.
For more information go to the Save Farscape Website for the FULL ARTICLE!
FARSCAPE! FARSCAPE! FARSCAPE!
I really wanted a miniseries like Taken last year. That would kick arse. But ahh well. Four hours is still four hours!! BTW It sounds like Save Farscape isn’t gonna stop here. Yeah baby, that’s what I’m talking about!

You know.. there’s a bright spot.. but a 4 hour mini-series? geez.. maybe if they get enough people to watch the mini-series.. it will get them to change their minds about it.
I still don’t think it should have been taken off the air.. I wonder how their ratings look since they remove farscape for Friday nights…
somehow I doubt it’s as good as it was when they DID have farscape.

I can tell you how the ratings look
They blow chunks. I mean seriously… yay stargate but the other drivel? Duh… way better ratings with Farscape. And hello, we ALL know the rating boxes do NOT get into the hands of people who watch sci fi. DUH!!! I swear it is a conspiracy.
I’m hoping… spread the word… Farscape miniseries… if we all watch and spread the word and get headlines and jazz… then they will realize they are arses and hopefully remedy the mistake. At least give us a massive miniseries like Taken was! π

Re: I can tell you how the ratings look
First, let me say that I agree Farscape should return … However, I sadly don’t think the bad ratings of the other Friday night shows are going to convince SciFi to change their minds. See, we have to take into account the fact that these other shows (Tremors: the Series and Scare Tactics and what other drivel) are incredibly cheap to produce – and much more owned by the channel then, say, FS was. So if (making up numbers) this new stuff gets only 10% of the rating but cost 5% of the cost to produce…
Also, sadly, SG-1 might be partially the catalyst – though not the cause; that still rests on the shoulders of those in charge of the channel. SG-1 takes an enourmous budget. No other big SciFi program competed with FS like that for the money. SciFi might only believe they can keep one such high priced series and they choose SG-1.
Thirdly, they have been wanting to move away from “space based” and “alien based” programming for some reason … they want to spread out to a larger demographic. *sigh*
But none of this is any reason to give up hope. Hell, Firefly is being made into a movie even after all it went through! And FOX is bringing back Family Guy after they saw how stupid they were to cancel it when its season 1 DVDs become the highest grossing set this year and (I believe) second highest of all time for a TV show! Plus it’s a hit on Cartoon Network. So hardcore fans can make a difference. π

I think I’ve heard all of that before.
I think we all understand what Sci Fi’s motivation was in canceling Farscape. And yes.. it had to do with Money. It was a cost cutting move, as evidenced by the fact that they said the ratings were not high enough to keep producing the show.
The SciFi channel has made a slight shift away from the theme of the channel. It has more of a feel of a movie channel now..

ANd we can’t forget the fool that USA put in charge of Sci Fi channel and that said fool really doesn’t like sci fi. GRRR Who cares, it is your job. If you don’t want it quit and if you do want your paycheck do it right. My golly. If I worked on the Soap Channel I’d still try to do the best job possible even though I don’t really like soaps!! Fool.
I think we need to continue to support the effort to bring back Farscape!! I think we have seen a very powerful sign that there is hope! LONG LIVE FARSCAPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At this point, if they don’t bring it back but do a few miniseries or one massive one like Taken I’ll be happy… do like they did with Alien Nation… every couple of years run a short movie or miniseries and it will help somewhat. But I want the show back in full force…

Yeah they claimed it on ratings but I think that was a load of BUNK.
Sci Fi made a massive shift with the new exec. The new exec just doesn’t like sci fi so they are making us suffer.
I’m royally pissed. I was one of the people running around like mad trying to get signatures to get that channel started in the first place and I feel like I’ve been trampled…

Yeah, I remember when it was first starting, trying to talk the cable provider of Sandusky into running the channel. It didn’t work at first. A few years later, SciFi came to Sandusky cable with the Learning Channel and Cartoon Network … all only available if you pay extra for them. Sorry, but I have issue paying extra fees for a channel that is no extra elsewhere and has comercial interruptions. π And when we already paid for a bunch of channels we didn’t care for.
By the time I came to CWRU which had the SciFi channel as part of the cable package, they’d already stopped showing such things as Doctor Who and some other series I was eagerly awaiting to watch again but never got the channel. I didn’t get into Farscape until season 4 only because the first few years I didn’t have the channel at home in Sandusky – and the first half of each season ran during the summer. π

I just remember all the work we did to even get the Sci Fi channel born. *SIGH* No one wanted to do it. “Oh no one watches sci fi.” Baloney. STOP GOING BY THE RATINGS!!
I swear.. if I could EVER get one of the frelling boxes, it would go on my upstairs tv and my tv would be tuned to sci fi channel with the exception of all sci fi prime time shows. 24 freaking hours a day!!
