When I posted my October 2015 Ipsy unboxing, I mentioned that the site runs special deals three times a week.  Earlier this month I picked up a nail polish set for only $20 from Aurora Cosmetics.

“At-home Gel Mani Kit” heralded the advert.  The colors looked great and I have heard great things about polish that is like unto gel, but not. I had an unfortunate gel nails incident a couple of years back to the tune of my index fingernail completely ripping off.  Completely.

That hurts like nothing else. I’ve given birth people. Seriously, worse. I can see why this is a torture technique.

Gel Effect polish that does not need UV light and comes off with regular polish remover? I will definitely try this, especially if it means no ripping fingernails off.  I seriously don’t need another near F-bomb falling out of my mouth as my Bishop walks by. Talk about embarrassing.

Here’s what I received:
Disappointment: No bright pink Ipsy mailer. That’s OK, I can understand why. (It came the same day as my regular Glambag so I photographed it with that mailer.)

Joy: The colors. Seriously, they are that great! I proceeded to manicure myself, my mother, and a friend.

Colors received:

  • Jelly Bean Red (fuchsia)
  • Little Red Wagon (red)
  • Los Angeles Smog (dusky purple)

This also came with their clear top coat.

Typically my nails chip fast. I type a lot. My nails suck. Something happens and the stuff chips super fast. I went three days with no chips. Excellent!

I liked this polish so much, I was disappointed not to get Inky Dinky with my Ipsy glam bag! Then I noticed a coupon on the Ipsy site. (Another reason to love the service!) I debated purchasing a bottle of Inky Dinky and followed the link to discover the most amazing Halloween collection.  Sold.

Here’s my shipment straight from Aurora Cosmetics:

The packaging – now that’s service! I cannot believe this came basically gift wrapped.  That’s mega score IMHO. I actually saved the box and ribbon!

Colors Received:

  • Inky Dinky (Deep purple almost black)
  • New Years Eve (Glitter clear accent polish)
  • Dark Love (burgundy)
  • Pitch (black)
  • Safety Orange

I also got another top coat. Excellent! This top coat is my new go to top coat for any polish!

The formula is thick.  Dark colors can totally get by with only one coat! Amazing. I really love this.

Here’s a few manicures:

Nice, right?

I’m hoping to do another manicure tonight or tomorrow. I got involved in a huge painting project for someone and well… my nails are a wreck!  Feel free to comment if you want to see something manicure-wise!
